Rising Stars: Meet Theresa Smith of West Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Theresa Smith.

Hi Theresa, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Real estate has always been a part of me, but I didn’t start there right away. I spent a decade in property management, helping people feel at home in the places they lived. In 2017, I made the leap into real estate, starting with Shea Homes at Trilogy at Vistancia where I fell in love with the world of new construction. In 2020, I shifted into resale and started building a business that’s rooted in heart and purpose.

I’m a born-and-raised West Valley girl. I grew up in Glendale, was born in Phoenix, and have never strayed far. Arizona runs deep in my blood. Both my parents and my husband are Arizona natives too. I’m the oldest of five kids, and my heart has always leaned toward helping others and building community.

Family is everything to me. I’m a proud police wife. My husband recently retired after 20 years of service. Together, we’re raising our 12-year-old daughter, Ella (my little bestie and cheer queen), and my amazing 17-year-old stepson, Caden. We also have two fur babies, a Boxer named Snow and a Frenchie named Oliver, because life just wouldn’t be complete without dogs.

Whether it’s walking my clients through one of the biggest decisions of their lives, leading my Wondrous Women group for women in real estate, volunteering at my daughter’s school, or planning magical Disney trips, my mission stays the same: Serving You With Love.

This career has been a God-led journey full of growth, connection, and purpose. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ve definitely had my share of challenges on this journey. Leaving a stable career in property management to start over in real estate was scary, but I knew I was being called to more. Then shifting from working for a builder to running my own resale business during a global pandemic forced me to dig deep, trust God, and grow fast.

Balancing business and family hasn’t always been easy either. I’m a proud police wife and a busy mom learning how to juggle it all while staying present for my clients has taken time and grace.

I’ve had to navigate market changes, overcome self-doubt, and set boundaries as someone who leads with her heart. But through it all, I’ve stayed rooted in faith, focused on serving others, and trusted that every step, even the hard ones, is part of God’s bigger plan for my life.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a full-time Realtor based in the West Valley of Phoenix, and I like to say I don’t just help people buy and sell houses, I help them feel at home in every part of the journey. My mission is Serving You With Love, and that really sums up everything I do. I specialize in residential resale, new construction, and working with our First Responders, but what I’m most known for is the way I show up for my clients, with heart, intention, and a whole lot of care.

I’m proud to have built a referral-based business rooted in trust and relationships. Whether it’s guiding a first-time buyer, helping a growing family move up, or walking a seller through an emotional transition, I meet every moment with empathy, strategy, and excellence.

What sets me apart is how personal this work is to me. I’m not about pressure or transactions, I’m about people, purpose, and creating lifelong connections. My clients become family. I bring deep knowledge of the West Valley (being born and raised here helps!), a calm presence in stressful moments, and a passion for making the process feel joyful, not overwhelming.

I’m also incredibly proud of the community I’ve built with other women in real estate through my Wondrous Women group. We support, celebrate, and collaborate, because I believe we rise by lifting others.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The most important quality behind my success is genuinely caring for people. I lead with heart in everything I do, whether it’s helping a family find their forever home, guiding a seller through an emotional move, or supporting other women in real estate. People can feel when you truly care, and that trust is everything in this business.

I believe in showing up fully, serving with love, and always doing the right thing, even when no one’s watching. That heart-led approach has built a business I’m proud of and lasting relationships that mean even more.
