Rising Stars: Meet Shelly Schooler of Litchfield Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shelly Schooler.

Hi Shelly, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My love for travel—and especially Disney—started long before I became a travel advisor. In college, I had the opportunity to participate in the Disney College Program, which was truly life-changing. Being part of Disney not only gave me a behind-the-scenes look at the magic that goes into creating unforgettable vacations, but it also taught me the importance of guest experience, attention to detail, and making every moment special. Those lessons stuck with me.
Even after the program ended, I carried that same passion for creating magical experiences into my everyday life. I became the “planner” in my family and friend group, the one who organized every detail of our trips. At first, it was just something I loved doing, but over time, people started coming to me for advice and asking me to help with their vacations. That’s when it clicked—this wasn’t just a hobby, it was something bigger.
That realization led me to Travelmation and opening Magical Travel by Shelly LLC. Now, as a professional travel advisor, I get to combine my Disney background, my love for travel, and my passion for helping others. The best part? My services come at no extra cost to my clients—travel suppliers pay me, not my clients. Families, couples, and groups can get personalized planning, expert advice, and stress-free travel without spending a penny more than if they booked on their own.
And while I love helping others plan their dream trips, travel is also deeply personal for me. Some of my favorite memories come from traveling with my own family—whether it’s exploring the beauty of Kauai, Hawaii, wandering the city streets of Chicago, or cruising around the Caribbean exploring the ports in Jamacia, Caymon Islands or Cozumel. Those moments together, away from the busyness of everyday life, are truly what I live for. I know first-hand how meaningful those experiences are, and that’s exactly why I’m so passionate about creating them for others.
For me, being a travel advisor isn’t just about booking trips—it’s about helping families make memories they’ll never forget. Whether it’s a first Disney trip, a dream cruise, a school trip, or a relaxing all-inclusive getaway, I love taking the stress out of planning so my clients can focus on enjoying every moment.
Looking back, it’s amazing how the Disney College Program sparked a journey that led me here. I never could have imagined that the magic I felt back then would come full circle, allowing me to help other families experience it, too—all while building a business that lets me be present with my two boys and show them that following your passions can truly lead to something magical.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the hardest parts of being a travel advisor has been finding clients and helping people understand what I actually do. A lot of people assume booking with a travel advisor costs more, when in reality my services are completely free to them.

Explaining that and building trust takes time, and that’s where the biggest challenge lies. This business is really built on relationships, referrals, and word of mouth. The best compliment I can receive is when a client has such a great experience that they send their friends and family my way. Referrals are the heart of my business, and they’re what allow me to keep doing what I love.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in creating personalized, stress-free vacations for families, couples, and groups. While I book all kinds of travel, I’m especially known for my Disney vacations, Universal trips, cruises, and all-inclusive resorts. My background with the Disney College Program gives me a unique perspective—I don’t just know the parks, I understand the behind-the-scenes details that make a trip magical.

What sets me apart is the level of care I put into every single trip. I treat each vacation as if it were my own, paying attention to the details that matter most—whether it’s securing the right room type, planning dining and activities, or making sure travel days go as smoothly as possible. I don’t just hand clients a booking; I walk with them through the entire process, from the very first conversation to the moment they return home.

I also pride myself on being approachable and accessible. My clients know they can text, call, or email me anytime with questions. They’re not waiting on hold with a call center—they’re working with someone who knows their family, their preferences, and their priorities.

At the heart of it, I’m not just booking trips—I’m helping people make lifelong memories. And because my services come at no additional cost, families get peace of mind knowing they’re getting expertise, insider knowledge, and support without paying a penny more. That combination of personal care, insider experience, and true passion for travel is what makes my clients keep coming back and what sets me apart from other advisors.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
For me, success isn’t measured in business growth or number of trips I book – it’s measured in time. My time with my two boys and my husband is the most precious thing I have, and I know they’ll only be little for a short while. Being able to build a business that allows me to be present with them is the only success I need.
