Rising Stars: Meet Sean Murtha

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean Murtha.

Hi Sean, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
My father was a drag racer at ATCO Raceway in New Jersey, I caught the bug for racing at that track driving his car for the first time at 8 years old. After that I asked a local shop if I can help out at 14, they did a lot of Porsche work where I fell in love with the brand. I was always reading shop manuals and new product releases about the brand and still do to this day! I have always had a passion for motorsports and cars and decided in 2020 that I was ready to step out onto my own and specialize in the brand I have so much love for.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Starting a business without investors is a tall task, there was a lot of moonlighting and working on customers 911’s in my driveway after work! Weekends and any plans disappeared. In the midst of starting the business, I had a lot of vital support leave and still had to overcome the financial hardships that came with it. There have been many times that the road just seemed too tough to travel but anytime a customer appreciates what we do we are reminded why we do it!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Porsche specialist, my shop Murtha Motorsports specializes in all models of Porsche from general repair, performance enhancements, and racing. So, to put it simply we are most known for our work with Porsche vehicles! I am most proud of how fast word of mouth traveled about our business. We operate out of a very small shop where the name of the game is quality over quantity. Growing a business and maintaining quality can be a challenge. I believe what sets us apart from most is as the owner I am still connected to my shop and employees. I’m there every day turning wrenches with them.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I think the only surprise I give customers is my age, I am 28 years old
