Rising Stars: Meet Ryan Stark

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Stark.

Hi Ryan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve been passionate about creativity for as long as I can remember. I founded a band called The Happy Yams in 2015, and that took most of my creative energy for a few years, but then I slowly shifted my energy more towards painting and drawing. For the past 6 years or so, my main focus has been creating art through colors, and I’m still as excited about it as I was when I first started.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There have been many instances where I forgot to ask for a down payment for the design process of murals, CD covers, etc, and then the project ended up falling through so I never got paid for all that designing work. Things like that are a bummer sometimes, but I’m slowly learning what to do to avoid challenges like that in the future.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am most known for my realistic animal paintings and my digital art pop culture mashups. I’m definitely most proud of my newest series of animals in an apocalyptic setting. I think what sets me apart from most people is just my ability to work on one art piece for 20+ hours. It allows me to add so many intricate details to make the piece look more realistic. I think many people just don’t have the patience to paint for that long on one thing without getting bored.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
I just play telephones on my Instagram constantly. This is a game that invites many artists from all around the world to join together and redraw each other’s art in an exciting game.
