Rising Stars: Meet Ronnie Colquitt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ronnie Colquitt

Hi Ronnie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey started when I was 10 years old, and I was inspired by 50 Cent, who was my favorite rapper at the time. Music was always around me—my mom sang in the choir, and that sparked my passion for it. But my path hasn’t been straightforward. There were times I thought about quitting, even considering a completely different career like becoming a doctor, thinking it would be easier. But something kept pulling me back to music. I’ve realized that it’s more than just a passion for me—it’s therapy, a way for me to tell my story. And now, I’m still here, making music and growing as an artist. I recently released an album titled HEAVEN CAN WAIT, and it’s something I’m proud of.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. As I mentioned, there are days when I feel like quitting and pursuing something else. Sometimes the struggle is with gaining exposure, and other times it’s more personal. I can get caught up focusing on those who aren’t supporting me, instead of appreciating the real ones who are. I’ve lost a lot of time and money in the process, but I’ve come to realize that it’s all part of the journey. At the end of the day, I can’t complain because it’s shaping me into a better artist and person.”

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a rap artist, producer, and all-around creative. What I’m most proud of is my constant growth—every time I get on the mic, I can feel myself improving. My lyrics are sharper, my voice inflections are more dynamic, and I’m evolving as an artist. Recently, I’ve had the opportunity to perform out of state in cities like Atlanta and LA, which has been a huge accomplishment for me. Betting on myself and working alongside my business partners, Juno and Mikey Moscato, has been key in this journey.

What sets me apart is my story. I don’t follow the typical topics that other artists focus on. My life experiences shape my art, and I bring that into my music. I might make a song about being a family man, celebrating my daughter’s grades, or even bragging about having a future wife. These are the things that matter to me, and they’re what make my music different.”

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My advice is simple: just start. Half the battle is taking action. If you only think about doing something without ever moving forward, it’ll stay a pipe dream. Don’t be afraid to fail—failure is where you learn and grow. Bet on yourself, whether that means putting up your own money, hosting your own shows, or taking other risks to move forward.

Looking back, I wish I had focused more on the business side of things early on. Understanding data, knowing who’s listening to your music, and having a solid budget for marketing are crucial. Also, building genuine, organic relationships with people is key. Those connections will carry you a long way.”
