We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a lot of work to get to where I am now. I had to push myself to practice every day. To learn how to market and sell my work and gather important analysis data. I have had collections not do well and learned and moved on.
The hardest part is finding your audience and knowing the right way to market to them.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I enjoy exploring many art forms and materials. I like testing my skills to see what I’m capable of.
Art for me is all about expressing the moment. So exploring different mediums and styles helped to translate the feelings I have during different times in my life. I am proud of the different pieces in each collection. I definitely have a favorite in each collection I’ve made. I’m proud of myself for not giving up and continuing to explore the variety of art styles instead of sticking to one.
So maybe we end by discussing what matters most to you and why?
That I don’t give up. It’s easy to try something new and give up when it’s not working out. You can tell yourself “I can’t do oils,” “I can only work with acrylics,” “I’m scared of resin” etc. but to me, they are all excuses to stay comfortable. You will never know your full potential if you stick to what’s comfortable.
It takes overcoming the first or second hurdle to know if you can really be good at something. You need to acknowledge and accept that you will fail and fall down multiple times. But when you do succeed, it is the best feeling in the world and opens up new paths you never saw before.
