Rising Stars: Meet Orchadia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Orchadia.

Hi Orchadia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
It all started with a marriage proposal, a devastating breakup, and a clash of bandmates. Merge, Tucson’s hottest former band came falling down faster than a bishop could say biscuit. This is a story of new beginnings and never-endings. My lifelong best friend, Jude, and I began our next big endeavor. We began to write and record our first-ever album “Flower” as soon as we could.

After releasing “Flower”, it went platinum—in our hearts—and kept us motivated to write and release new music.

Since, we’ve released three singles and played our dream childhood venues such as Club Congress, Rialto, and Dusk Music Festival. We wish to spread our passion for music, love, and spirit wherever our feet (and instruments) take us!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
With a six-person band, not everything can function smoothly, but we do our best! With members living in Benson, Phoenix, and Tucson, band practice can often be more difficult to organize than make perfect.

As both unsigned and unmanaged bands, we also handle all releases, social media, merchandise, etc. on our own.

Obviously when every band member is full-time at work or school, managing a band is no easy feat and we do our best to divvy up tasks.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Two of our members, Kyle and Carson, work respectively as lesson leads and salesmen at the guitar center. Our guitarist, Jude, is a biomedical science major at ASU and graduating this semester. Kirby, our drummer, gives private drum lessons and works at LA fitness.

Our bass player, Michael, is a full-time pilot. Finally, our pianist, Phoenix, is graduating high school this semester.

Our jobs are as diverse as our ages which range from 17 to 33, and we still make this band work pretty smoothly. I would bet we would all identify as a proud members of Orchadia before a pilot/music instructor/bio major.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Carson (Orchadia’s frontman) and I (our guitarist, Jude), have been friends since kindergarten. Our first band was called flaming fury, and we basically head-banged around the playground to smoke on the water with frequent breaks to talk about ninja turtles.

Carson and I have been lifelong bandmates, while the rest of us are lifelong musicians. Our instruments really are more than what fills the back of Kirby’s Toyota Tacoma before every show, they have formed our personalities and continue to shape us today.
