Rising Stars: Meet Noah Strykes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Noah Strykes.

Hi Noah, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started with photography and videography when I was 12 years old. I uploaded vlogs and various video projects to YouTube. About five years into YouTube, I decided it was time to rediscover the passion for music I had as a young child. Over the past three years, I have taught myself digital music production, mixing, and mastering.

I have incorporated my photo/video skills with my music to make projects come as close as possible to my creative visions. Through these projects and ideas, I have formed a team of close friends who have individual talents and creative perspectives. We work together on almost every new idea and we have developed efficient formulas for doing so.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In my opinion, the challenges any artist’s faces are a test of their character and drive for wanting to succeed. I have experienced roadblocks, unexpected change, and uncertainty throughout my career and creative journey. I have learned to view these challenges as learning opportunities and reasons to become better at what I do not just creatively, but overall.

Being driven from a young age has put me through many friendship groups, flaky relationships, and tests of willpower. However, I would not change a thing as I would not be where I am today. I also would not have the knowledge I gained from those experiences that help me to navigate my path.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I wear many hats and I am always working on something new, haha. I am a musician, music producer, photographer, videographer, editor, writer, etc. I usually refer to myself as “creative” to keep things brief. I have specialized in music for the past 3 years. During the first year of the pandemic, I taught myself how to produce, mix, and master my songs. I released solo projects, but recently I have been working with my bandmate Ryan Rane under the duo name “Double Vision”.

About a year ago we started working on an 80s-themed album titled “Jelly” and it was released this past May. We wrote, produced, sang, mixed, and mastered every song. We also directed, filmed, edited, and marketed all the music videos, visuals, and promotional media for the project. I am most proud of “Movin'”, one of the singles from the album. Movin’ is an 80s workout-inspired song paired with a music video.

Ryan and I along with some help from friends storyboarded, choreographed, filmed, and edited an entire workout routine music video to go along with the song. I believe it is our best piece of media to date. Recently we have been moving away from the themes in our music and moving into more of a contemporary pop sound. We plan to release new music over next year and beyond.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
I feel that perseverance and consistency are two traits that helped me break through plateaus or still points in my career. For creatives, motivation can be hard to find. It can be easier to feel discouraged by a lack of results rather than stay motivated through the tests and trials of putting your work out for the world to see. Staying consistent when unmotivated can be a way to prove to your audience (and yourself) that you are committed to the craft and determined to create success.
