Today we’d like to introduce you to Mo Van.

Hi Mo, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello Beautiful souls! My name is Mo Van and I am the creative soul behind Mo Dzines. I am an Artist and a Wonderer.

I have lived in AZ for almost 20 years. I truly fell in love with the desert and its beauty back when I took a trip to Phoenix when I was 12 years old.

The desert was calling my name to come back, so I did. Fast forward decades later, I am now a small business owner in this state. I love the community around me and love all that it has to offer.

My passion is Art, in all forms. I create magic when I get to express what I feel. I love the outdoors and being barefoot! It’s the best way to connect to Mother Earth. I have two rescued pit bulls which you may see on my social media pages working along side of me. At the end of the day, I am just truly blessed and grateful for being able to have the awesome amount of support a girl can have.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road of an Artist is not always easy. I have been hustling to get out there and make a name for Mo Dzines. With the internet these days, there are so many avenues to promote. However, I am not social media savvy and have been self-teaching myself daily, and it was a struggle for some time to understand a new language that I wasn’t used to. I will say that there are a lot of other entrepreneurs out there that have helped me along the way with questions I have asked regarding business and social media. I believe that if the struggle is real, then you are getting somewhere. There will be blocks in the road, but it’s how we handle the struggle and what we learn from it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Mo Dzines is about creating beautiful, one-of-a-kind wearable art. I specialize in designing and creating custom earrings for individuals seeking to share their stories. In stories, we find ourselves and who we truly are. My one-on-one Custom Sessions involve a questionnaire form. From there, I connect with the individual, discussing their desires. Some of my prior clients have asked me to create earrings for special events and birthday gifts, and at times, it has been a way of healing for my clients to share their stories with me. I also have had opportunities to construct earrings made from clients’ heirloom pieces. The stories I encounter are amazing and beautiful. Having the opportunity to work with my clients and make magic happen touches, my soul. Let’s see. I am probably best known for color in my work. I incorporate a variety of bright colors and bold designs. I also love some dangle earrings. The longer, the better for my style! I am proud that I took a chance on myself and my dream. I encountered struggles but kept looking forward. It was hard at times, but being able to create from my soul helps me heal and keep pushing toward my dreams, and that is what I would love everyone to know, that art truly does heal!

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I had a mentor when I started Mo Dzines who helped me tremendously. I also tend to ask other creatives what has worked for them and if they have any tips. A lot of networking also happens online and at in-person events for me.
