Today we’d like to introduce you to Magdalena Rodriguez.
Magdalena, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born and raised in Phoenix before attending university in Colorado for my BA in Musical Theatre. I spent most of my life watching old black-and-white movies or musicals and attending national tours at ASU Gammage so I knew acting was what I wanted to pursue to some degree. After graduating, I moved to NYC where I began auditioning and performing across the region with shows like West Side Story, In the Heights, and Beauty and the Beast. I worked for Disney Cruise Line as a performer onboard the Disney Fantasy which to this day is still the best job I’ve ever had.
Once the pandemic hit, my jobs were canceled for the foreseeable future. Instead of sticking around NYC, I decided to come back to Arizona and try my hand at marketing and content creation. I had always had a love for photography, fashion, and social media so I began funneling time and energy into growing my online community. I was so excited to meet people with similar interests and be able to inspire and share my everyday life.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I was challenged when I decided to pivot my career and begin work as a content creator. There are still days when it can be overwhelming and relying on a social media app for work is not ideal but being able to share my life and passions with so many new friends makes it all worth it.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I am a content creator sharing vintage-inspired outfits, book recommendations, tips to romanticize your life, and my favorite ways to thrift or antique.
I am a romantic at heart and love anything antique or thrifted. There is something very special about knowing an item lived a past life with someone else. Some of my favorite belongings are handed down from family members in the 1930s or from antique stores or estate sales.
