Today we’d like to introduce you to Lynn Andrews II.
Hi Lynn, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Since launching his career in the industry at the age of 18, Lynn’s journey has been nothing short of inspiring. Starting as a temporary worker, he quickly demonstrated dedication and hard work, steadily climbing the ranks through perseverance and a commitment to excellence. Over the years, Lynn gained invaluable experience and insights, laying the foundation for his own business.
In 2019, after nearly 2 decades worth of industry experience, Lynn took the bold step of venturing out on his own. From humble beginnings, he transformed his vision into a thriving enterprise that, now approaching its seventh year, is celebrated for its strong company culture rooted in appreciation—both for customers and employees.
Lynn’s approach emphasizes the importance of community, trust, and mutual respect. His dedication to customer satisfaction has built a loyal clientele, while his commitment to his team has fostered a positive and motivating work environment. Under his leadership, the company continues to grow, innovate, and set a standard for small business success.
As Lynn reflects on his journey, he attributes his achievements to relentless effort, continuous learning, and a genuine passion for service. His story is a testament to the power of perseverance, and an inspiring example for aspiring entrepreneurs everywhere. With seven years under his belt and many more ahead, Lynn’s business remains a shining beacon of dedication, culture, and community.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
In 2019, just as Andrews Installation Group was hitting its stride, the COVID-19 pandemic arrived like a tidal wave. Lockdowns, shifting regulations, and the abrupt disappearance of foot traffic brought business to a standstill.
“We went from a packed schedule to complete silence in a matter of days,” says Mr. Andrews. “I remember staring at the calendar, watching every booking cancel. It was terrifying.”
Pivoting became survival. For some, it meant embracing e-commerce. For others, launching delivery, curbside pickups, or virtual services. It meant applying for every grant and loan possible — many of which were difficult to obtain or came with fine print that complicated more than helped.
Then came inflation, staffing shortages, supply chain delays, and rising rents. Each year brought a new set of problems. Even after the height of the pandemic, customer habits had changed. Shopping patterns shifted online. Loyalty became fleeting. Social media turned into a daily grind just to stay visible.
“Every time we felt like we had some stability, the game changed,” says Mr. Andrews. “But we changed too.”
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Lynn was born into a world that offered few choices—only consequences. His parents, both gripped by drug addiction, drifted from house to house, couch to couch, chasing the next high while stability slipped further away. His childhood was a rough patchwork of missed meals, rotating schools, and the ever-present threat of neighborhood violence. Survival wasn’t guaranteed—it was a daily ritual.
“I didn’t grow up dreaming about what I wanted to be,” Lynn says, his voice calm, though his bright hazel eyes drift toward something far away. “I was just trying to stay alive.”
At just 14, Lynn was caught in the crossfire of a street dispute that had nothing to do with him. A .44-caliber bullet tore through his chest, narrowly missing his heart and leaving his right arm temporarily paralyzed. Doctors didn’t expect him to make it through the night.
Two weeks later, his freshman year was supposed to begin—baseball tryouts, band practice, a fresh start. Instead, he was learning how to breathe through pain and how to walk again. Nothing was going according to plan.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Through it all, I could never have made it here alone. My wife, Deniece, has been the steady hand in every storm—patient when life was chaotic, strong when I needed someone to lean on, and always reminding me of who I could become, even when I couldn’t see it myself. She held our family together when I was still figuring out how to hold myself together. Her love didn’t just support me—it saved me.
And to my four children—Lynn, Lynniece, Helen, and Mariah—you are the reason I breathe deeper, fight harder, and dream bigger. You gave me purpose when I was running on fumes. Watching you grow has been the greatest privilege of my life. Every late night, every early morning, every ounce of grit I’ve poured into this business has been for you.
This isn’t just my story—it’s ours. You are my legacy, my light, and my “why.” Thank you for believing in me.
