Rising Stars: Meet Louis Robinson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Louis Robinson.

Louis Robinson

Hi Louis, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve had a passion for dogs ever since I was a child. When I was old enough to enlist in the US Airforce, I did, and I joined the ranks of some of the most elite dog handlers/trainers in the world.

After my service was complete, I brought my knowledge of training handling and behaviorism to my clients with a unique training program designed by me for common pet problems. My company has since been recognized as a leader in the training industry, and we continue to provide services to our students on both 2 and 4 legs.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As a veteran dog trainer transitioning to a pet dog training business owner, one challenge was adjusting to the differences in training techniques and expectations between working dogs and pet dogs.

Another challenge was building a client base and establishing a reputation in the local community, as the transition from military or specialized dog training to pet dog training required a shift in marketing and networking strategies.

Overcoming the stereotype and stigma that some people may have about a former military dog trainer working with pet dogs required effective communication and marketing efforts to emphasize the unique skill set.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As an AIrforce Veteran dog trainer, I bring a unique set of skills and experience that set me apart from an inexperienced pet store trainer. With my military background, I have developed exceptional discipline, patience, and expertise in training various breeds of dogs. I understand the importance of structure, consistency, and positive reinforcement techniques to bring out the best in your pet.

Additionally, my experience in handling and training working dogs can provide an added layer of versatility and effectiveness in addressing specific needs or concerns related to your pet. Choosing me as your dog trainer guarantees you a high level of professionalism, knowledge, and dedication to the well-being and success of your furry companion.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
