Rising Stars: Meet Lily Marie Antonini (Lil-E)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lily Marie Antonini (Lil-E).

Lily Marie Antonini (Lil-E)

Hi, Lily Marie. Having you on the platform is an honor. Thanks for sharing your story with us – To start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
My name is Lily Marie Antonini, but I also use “STAR 🌟” & “Lil-E” for stage names. I am a bilingual Singer/Songwriter/Pianist/Producer who recently graduated from Berklee College Of Music with a double major in Vocal Performance and songwriting. I also dance, act, and do other performing and visual arts on the side! I was born and raised in the desert state of Arizona and started taking professional music lessons for voice, theory, and piano at 11. However, I was always a mini “pop star” at heart before that! At the age of 12, I believe I started to explore different genres of different ages of music and discovered 80s music. From then on, I was obsessed with many 80s artists and music, Phil Collins being the number one artist I admire. I believe much of my musical influences are from this time (Phil Collins, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Al Jarreau, George Michael/WHAM!, Boy George/Culture Club, Prince, Hall & Oates, Elton John, Billy Joel, The Police, Depeche Mode, Tears For Fears, Foreigner, Billy Idol, etc.) the early 2000’s when I was a kid, (Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Selena Gomez, Katy Perry, etc.) and of course, some artists from today (DNCE, Maroon 5, The Weeknd, Ellie Goulding, Charlie Puth) I currently have released over 200+ songs of all genres, both English and Spanish, from pop, Latin, religious, House/EDM, rock, disco, dance, jazz, hip hop, rap, acapella. More is available on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, and all other music platforms under “Lily Marie Antonini!” In much of my music, I love to add synth sounds and other colorful instruments and melodies that are catchy and danceable, as well as positive messages, hoping that they will connect with the audience, make them feel better, and bring them closer to God and to themselves. Speaking of colors, I have many forms of Synesthesia (I see, taste, feel, smell, and more senses intertwining with music and numbers/letters), which helps me to make a lot of music very fast. To me, the 80s synth sounds give a beautiful blue, which may be an add-on to why I love that music time and try to bring it back in a more modern spectrum with my music. One of the things I am most grateful for in my career so far is that I have had the honor of performing with various bands of up to 50+ performers and managing shows across the globe, including being the first bilingual artist with Synesthesia to perform all originals at the prestigious Berklee Performance Center without any help of faculty. This show is available to watch as well online; type in “Lily Marie Antonini BPC” on Google! 🙂

Let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
Life can be a tough road with many obstacles you must surpass to achieve success/goals/dreams. Everyone has their battles, whether enemies or even the voices in your head. I always try to be positive and not let negativity get me down, such as criticism that is not helpful. It is also tough to make it in the music industry and be respected as a minority and a woman, but hopefully, that will change. My main struggle has always been finances. I come from a low-income family that works hard and deserves the world. Unfortunately, since we do not have all the funds that may be needed, that is an obstacle. Funds as a musician could be useful for better equipment for recording (an actual microphone), as I do not own one yet, travel expenses for performances, promotion, etc. God willing, we will all continue to work hard, save, and escape this difficulty! 🙂

Thanks for sharing that. You could tell us more about your work.
I write the music and lyrics, arrange, produce, mix & master, and record all instruments and vocals for all of my works, as well as create the album arts, directing, and acting in my music videos. I specialize in being my label and am a workaholic, turning myself into a group of 100 people, but I am very thankful to God for giving me this potential. It can get very frustrating and stressful for a one-person job, and I would love to find a team of talented people who believe in my music in the future to help out! I am most known for writing an infinite amount of music quickly and having over 200+ songs released on all platforms. I am also known as a colorful girl; hence, my Synesthesia and my shows are always very colorful – I love wearing rainbow and glitter. For every song at my shows, I replicate how I see the music by telling the tech team to include the colors I see in each song to match the stage lights! Right now, I am most proud of a few things that happened. I was honored to have my first New York City Billboard feature in Times Square, added to a major playlist on Spotify – New Music Friday Latin, and accomplished my 2023 goal of releasing music every month! I am finishing all the projects I needed this year and am very thankful to God. I can’t wait to see what else is to come! My capacity to create and finish catchy music very quickly sets me apart from others and my Synesthesia, as only a few people have it. Some well-known artists who have/had it are Mozart, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Franz Liszt, Marilyn Monroe, Duke Ellington, and more!

What matters most to you? Why?
God and Mary will always be my number one as I am Catholic and always have been! My family also obviously matters most to me personally, too. However, what matters most to me about life outside of home is to use my talents for good only. I believe God gives every one of us talents and gifts to use for good, and I feel like there has to be a reason why I create music fast. I hope that with every song, I reach out to at least one person and help them with the personal struggles they may be facing or to be a friend, even if I can not be there in person. I hope this world can be at peace and that all negativity, war, hatred, and other bad things will disappear. Good always wins! 🙂
