Rising Stars: Meet Lanna Griffin of Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lanna Griffin.

Hi Lanna, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey began when I had my lashes done for the first time 11 years ago before a trip to Hawaii. I was 18, and Kendra Harris – the owner of Wildflower Beauty Bar’s multiple thriving locations- was the one who got me hooked. I was obsessed with them!! After many fill appointments and a million questions about lashes, how they are applied, etc., Kendra noted my love for them. She recommended I look into going to school for esthetics. After trying for months and even getting legally married to be able to get loans for school, I got the funding I needed and began school at Avalon in September 2014. I’ve worked for multiple well-known and even global brands and run my own business for two years. I’ve been blessed with opportunities to educate, manage numerous salons, launch products, dabble in marketing, and further my skills as an artist through continuing education. After a break from the industry during the pandemic, I returned to work in my best friend’s salon in Old Town Scottsdale, Bold Beauty Company. Working with Alesha has been a dream come true! I joined her team in January 2022 and look forward to fantastic opportunities and exciting things. I’m beyond grateful for a strong foundation of loyal and loving clients, and I have never been more in love with the industry than I am today. I offer various services, including lash extensions, nano brows, lip blush, tooth gems, facial waxing, brow lamination, dermaplaning, microneedling, piercings, spray tans, and tiny tattoos!

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
With any long-term relationship, there are moments when you second-guess your path and question whether or not you are on the correct one. Of course, there have been obstacles over the years which have, in some circumstances, led me to retire my tweezers. I went back to work in dentistry for about 6 months in the interim, and it helped me realize, “this ain’t it.” I have zero regrets about selecting this as a career path and am currently grateful that no matter what, it’s always pulled me back and been worth it.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in Russian volume lashes taught to me by none other than the mastermind that is Maven. Trina’s Face Studies leveled up my lash game 100x, and taking her course changed how I lashed forever. Using her techniques, I can fully customize each lash set for each unique eye and face shape I can work on. I focus heavily on maintaining (and improving) the health of the natural lash line and rehabilitating lash lines that have been damaged from previous work. I’m proud of my stellar isolation to apply beautiful customized fans that are not too heavy but still offer fluffy dark fullness. Whether a client is looking for a perfectly applied mascara look or wants to look like they’re wearing their favorite strip lashes- I’m happy to be able to give that to them.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was a weird kid, and part of me never grew out of that! 🤓 I was obsessed with fairies and fantasy, and my love for Harry Potter began early. I started cooking at 8 and have always loved food because of those memories. I lived with my grandparents during the week and have fond memories of gardening with my grandma and grandpa, playing in the yard with my friends and cousins, and being in the water as much as humanly possible. (I’m probably part mermaid.) I was bullied a bit due to being overweight, which became difficult as I entered my teenage years. I loved all things arts and crafts, making “potions” in the kitchen, and always had animals to love. I honestly had a fantastic childhood.
