Rising Stars: Meet Kurt Crosley of Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kurt Crosley.

Hi Kurt, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Kurt Edward Crosley, or Kedsley for short. I’m a self-taught electronic music producer and musician who shares a long-rooted passion for live production. Between my professional touring career as a roadie and traveling the world with various bands and performers, I express my creative energy by experimenting with music production and visual art. The inspiration for my work comes from a wide range of genres, including synth-wave, drum and bass, trance, ambient techno, and mid-tempo bass music. My beginnings in music production came about during the global shutdown in 2020. With all music touring suspended during that time, my thought was to spend the coming days learning a different side of the business I needed to learn more about. The first of my tracks was released with my online streaming profile as background music for gamers and creators. My music is evolving as I learn more about the process.

As Kedsley, I aim to deliver a unique and dynamic sound in my music. Music is a medium for self-expression and personal freedom for me and many others. My start in show business began with playing and promoting shows in churches and coffee shops, and I am now building stadium production rigs worldwide. One of my aspirations is to be a full-time performer on the other side of production. With my background in lighting, technical production, and event management, I bring a unique perspective to my vision for live performances.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Show business has no shortage of obstacles and challenges. In my experience, the most significant challenge has been making time for myself and those I love. Touring has taken me worldwide, but home is the only place it won’t take me.

Thanks for sharing that. Can you tell us more about your work next?
My music is excellent for filling dead air. Do some studying or cleaning, but you don’t want to think about something other than your playlist while you do it? Just play Kedsley. The groovin’ will keep you moving—the vibe to pass the time. I write, record, and produce all my music.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
We can all see that with the introduction of artificial intelligence, there are bound to be significant changes in how we experience creative content. Rights and ownership of creative properties are under attack, and many jobs are on the line to be replaced by algorithms. We must understand how to utilize this new technology responsibly for ethical integration. There are no shortcuts to producing meaningful works of art that speak to the human soul.
