Rising Stars: Meet Krista Harris

Today we’d like to introduce you to Krista Harris

Hi Krista, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey started over three decades ago when I discovered my passion for helping people heal through touch. I became an intuitive massage therapist and quickly realized the profound impact I could have on others’ physical and emotional well-being. Over the years, I’ve honed my craft, deepened my understanding of the human body, and expanded my perspective on holistic health.

Life brought its own challenges, including major surgeries and personal setbacks, but each obstacle has only reinforced my belief in the power of healing—from within and through connection. Along the way, I’ve embraced advocacy for natural health and self-care, whether through grounding in nature, exploring weightlifting post-recovery, or sharing the joy of movement with others.

Now, after 32 years in this field, I feel more aligned with my purpose than ever. I’ve had the honor of being featured in a magazine for my work and continue to find fulfillment in guiding others on their own journeys to wellness. For me, this isn’t just a career; it’s a calling.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?

It hasn’t always been a smooth road, but the challenges have shaped who I am today. As a self-employed massage therapist, there were times when financial instability made things difficult, especially during periods when I faced personal health issues. In the past year alone, I underwent two major surgeries, including spinal fusion, which tested my resilience both physically and emotionally.

On top of that, I inherited a predisposition to lymphedema, which has caused swelling in my arms and legs. Despite these struggles, I’ve refused to let it hold me back. Instead, I’ve found strength in my ability to adapt and persevere, continuing to lift weights and pursue my passions.

Each challenge has been a reminder of why I do what I do—to help others navigate their own paths to healing. Every setback has been an opportunity for growth, and I’ve come to appreciate the lessons that come from both the highs and the lows.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

I’m an intuitive massage therapist with 32 years of experience, specializing in helping people find relief from pain, stress, and tension while promoting holistic well-being. My work goes beyond just the physical aspect of massage—I incorporate intuition and deep empathy into every session, tailoring each treatment to the unique needs of my clients. Over the years, I’ve built a reputation for creating a safe, healing space where people can truly let go and feel cared for.

What I’m most proud of is the lasting impact I’ve had on my clients’ lives. Seeing someone walk away not just feeling better physically, but also emotionally lighter and more empowered, is incredibly rewarding. I’m also proud of how I’ve stayed true to my values and my craft through personal challenges, evolving with each experience to better serve those who trust me with their care.

What sets me apart is my ability to connect deeply with people and intuitively understand what they need, even when they may not know how to express it. My approach is rooted in compassion, and I see every session as an opportunity to remind someone of their innate ability to heal. This isn’t just a job for me—it’s a calling to help others find balance, resilience, and renewal.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?

What I love most about our city is its sense of community and connection. There’s a warmth and authenticity here that makes it feel like home, and I’m constantly inspired by the people who are passionate about making it a better place. I also appreciate the natural beauty surrounding us—being able to step outside and feel grounded in nature is such a gift.

What I like least, however, is how easy it can be to get caught up in the fast pace of life here. Sometimes it feels like we’re all running on autopilot, which makes it harder to slow down and truly connect with ourselves and each other. That’s one reason I’m so passionate about my work—I want to remind people to take a moment to breathe, recharge, and reconnect.
