Today we’d like to introduce you to John Diego Acosta
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I don’t know exactly how it all started, sometimes it feels like it’s just starting now. What I do know is that it’s been an incredible journey. I’ve always had a passion for creating spaces and experiences that bring people together, whether it’s in the brewery, at an event, or even in my own home. Over time, that passion turned into a career, and with hard work, creativity, and the support of the amazing people around me, it’s grown into something I’m truly proud of.
Today, I feel blessed to be part of this community and industry, one that thrives on connection, craft, and shared experiences. It’s not just about running businesses; it’s about building relationships, creating memories, and leaving an impact. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities, and I’m grateful to be where I am, surrounded by a team and community that inspires me to keep growing.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Has it been a smooth road? Of course not. Like any journey worth taking, there have been struggles along the way. Challenges come in all forms, balancing work and life, navigating the unpredictable nature of this industry, and finding ways to keep innovating while staying true to myself and my vision.
When things get tough, I lean on my mentors for guidance. They’ve been a source of wisdom and perspective, helping me see the bigger picture and reminding me why I started in the first place. Their support has been invaluable, giving me the strength and clarity to push through challenges and turn them into opportunities for growth. It’s not always easy, but with the right people in your corner, the hard days become lessons that shape your success.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am the Director of Marketing and Events for Saddle Mountain Brewing Company, where I get to combine creativity and community in everything we do. Beyond that, I’ve built my own practice, consulting with Arizona craft companies to help them bring their visions to life. My work spans from designing beer labels and creating murals in hotels, restaurants, and breweries, to producing videography for rodeos and festivals, and capturing photography for concerts and product placement shoots.
What I’m most proud of is the opportunity to host charity events and collaborate with local foundations. Giving back to the community that has supported me is incredibly rewarding.
What sets me apart is the range of my expertise and the personal investment I bring to every project. I approach every task with a focus on storytelling and connection, making sure each piece of work reflects the unique personality of the brand or event. Whether it’s a mural on a wall or an event that brings people together, my goal is to create something meaningful that resonates with people and celebrates the vibrant culture of Arizona.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was a vagabond, a nomad. I lived with family members, friends, and eventually, I was on my own by 16. That kind of upbringing shaped me in unique ways, it gave me the freedom to be whoever I wanted to be and explore whatever sparked my interest.
I skated, played lacrosse, golfed, wrestled, got heavy into motorcycle, dabbled in theatre, film, photography and art. I tried everything and anything that caught my attention. Each experience added a layer to who I am, teaching me skills and giving me talents I couldn’t have gained any other way.
Looking back, I couldn’t be more blessed. That unconventional path taught me resilience, adaptability, and the value of curiosity. It’s shaped the way I approach my work and my life now, always ready to embrace the next opportunity and learn something new.
