Today we’d like to introduce you to Ivan Rawmirez.
Hi Ivan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I was introduced to breaking at the age of 13 by a friend. I felt a new sense of freedom when I started dancing and it allowed me to creatively express myself. My mentor Gravity is a world-renowned break dancer. I would watch his competition videos and knew I wanted to compete as well.
I’ve traveled all over the United States breaking. Never in my wildest dreams at 13 years old would I have imagined I would be competing at a national level. With my competitive nature, I was curious about acting. It couldn’t be too different right? Practice my craft & go compete. I immediately fell in love with acting. I joined The Howey Acting Studio in 2021 and haven’t stopped pursuing that dream since,
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest struggle is juggling both dance and acting. Both of my passions are very time-consuming. It pushes me to be more organized and better at time management.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an actor and dancer. I specialize in break dancing. It was the first type of dance I learned and I instantly knew it was the one for me. In the break dance community, I am known for having a very unorthodox style of dance. I like to keep things interesting and am always willing to take creative risks when it comes to dancing. I am proud that I’ve been able to experience so much of life through dance. I’ve traveled to so many places, experienced different cultures, and made some lifelong friends along the way.
I will forever be grateful for the journey dance has given me. When it comes to acting, I am known for having a wide range of characters I can play. My favorite character type is the bad guy, it’s fun to play the mafia guy. I am most proud that I am able to do what I love every single day. My week can look like dancing in a different state one day and then acting in another state the next day. I will never hold for granted how blessed I am for being able to do what I love. I think what sets me apart from others is my drive. I truly believe with hard work, blood, sweat, and tears….
Anything you put your mind to is possible.
