Rising Stars: Meet Hayley Heckethorn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hayley Heckethorn.

Hi Hayley, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story? 
I started making charcuterie boards for our family dinners back in 2021, just for fun. I loved how we would all gather around the board, where we would just end up snacking and talking for hours! One of my sisters brought up the idea of me turning this into a little business and I seriously thought that was crazy. I went home that night and found that the world of a “charcuterie business” is most definitely a thing! The next morning, I had come up with a business name & logo and started up our Instagram. 

In only a few months, I was so busy – I was shocked! I had clients meeting me at my full-time job to pick up their orders. So, I knew at that point I wanted to commit more time to this little business and decided to quit my job. 

With that leap of faith, I was able to put in the work into making this business grow. I had more time to connect with clients and perfect our menu. Today, I’m blessed to work on this little cheese business every day! 

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It was certainly not a smooth journey! Like any business, gaining clientele can be difficult. It took a lot of networking and the pressure of the perfect Instagram post to get me there. Another thing that many people do not realize is that we have to be licensed through our county’s health department. Finding a commercial kitchen to work out of in the beginning was a huge challenge for me – I was nearly discouraged. Luckily, one came along, and it’s been a great setup! 

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At Primrose Board Co., we specialize in all things charcuterie! We design charcuterie boards, charcuterie boxes, charcuterie cups, and custom grazing tables. We are most known for our grazing tables since they are both stunning and tasty! Since these are customizable, we can truly create anything a client wishes (like a fun pancake + topping graze – we’ve done that once or twice!). 

We know that the concept of a meat and cheese board has been around forever and that anyone can make one. However, we craft the perfect board that not only is pleasing to the eye but includes such a variety that there’s is always something for everyone to enjoy! For us, the aesthetic of a charcuterie board is something we take pride in as we pay attention to every little detail. 

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
We cater to all events! Such as: weddings, bridal showers, engagement parties, birthdays, corporate events, baby showers, and date nights. 

We also just added the cutest little charcuterie cart. If you have a local community event where you would like us to sell charcuterie cups or boxes, let us know!
