Haley, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hosted Events was founded in Mesa, Arizona, by three women, all family— Laura, Jessie, and myself—we were all planning our own special occasions. As we worked through the details, we quickly realized there was a common problem: a lack of affordable, high-quality event rental options in our area.
We all experienced the same challenge—finding stylish, quality rentals that wouldn’t break the bank. It was frustrating to discover that many options were either too expensive or didn’t fit our vision. We knew there had to be a better way.
One evening, as the three of us sat down to share our experiences, the idea for Hosted Events came to life. We decided to create a business that would offer affordable, high-quality event rentals for people in Mesa and beyond. We wanted to help others host their celebrations without the added stress of overspending.
With that goal in mind, we began to build a collection of rental items that were both beautiful and budget-friendly. From stylish furniture to elegant décor, we focused on curating an inventory that could elevate any event without pushing people’s budgets too far.
We make it our priority to offer personalized support by helping clients bring their visions to life with thoughtful recommendations and guidance every step of the way.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like many small businesses, Hosted Events has faced its fair share of challenges along the way. As a family-run business, our journey has been filled with both ups and downs, but each obstacle has only made us stronger and more determined.
One of the biggest hurdles we faced in the beginning was simply getting noticed in a crowded industry. Event planning and rentals can be a saturated market, and it took time for us to establish a solid reputation in the Mesa area. We knew we had something unique to offer—affordable, high-quality event rentals—but getting the word out and competing with larger, more established companies was no small feat and is something we still work very hard at. We had to rely on word-of-mouth, networking, and staying active in our local community to build our customer base, which hasn’t been easy.
On top of that, we are all balancing busy lives. We have young children, demanding schedules, and a lot on our plates. Juggling the responsibilities of family life with running a business has definitely been a challenge. There have been many late nights and early mornings, along with sacrifices in order to make time for our business. But for us, the drive to succeed and help others create memorable events has always kept us going, even when things felt overwhelming.
Another struggle has been managing the logistics of an event rental business. The process of maintaining inventory, handling deliveries, and ensuring everything runs smoothly on the day of an event can be a lot to handle, especially with a small team.
But despite these challenges, Hosted Events has continued to grow. We’ve learned to adapt, get creative, and keep pushing forward, all while staying true to our mission: to provide exceptional service and quality rentals at affordable prices. Through hard work, resilience, and a deep love for what we do, we’ve overcome the obstacles that stood in our way and turned them into opportunities for growth.
Looking back, the struggles have only made us more resourceful and determined to continue building a business that people can trust. It’s been a journey, but it’s one that’s taught us a lot about perseverance, the importance of community, and the power of family.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Running Hosted Events requires a lot of teamwork, and each of us have a specific role that helps keep things running smoothly. While we all pitch in wherever needed, we’ve each taken on responsibilities that play to our strengths, allowing us to focus on what we do best.
I take charge of our website and inventory management. I’m the one behind the scenes making sure our online presence stays up-to-date, from product listings to booking systems. I also keep a close eye on our inventory, ensuring that everything is properly tracked, maintained, and ready for each event. My attention to detail ensures that our customers can trust that the items they’ve reserved will be there—on time and in perfect condition.
Jessie runs our social media accounts and marketing efforts. From crafting posts to engaging with our community, she’s the voice of Hosted Events online. She loves connecting with customers, sharing event inspiration, and making sure our followers stay updated on new products and promotions. Jessie’s creative approach to social media has helped us build a strong connection with our local community, which has been essential to growing our business.
Laura manages all of the behind-the-scenes operations, including finances, bookings, and customer service. She’s the one keeping the business organized, handling the numbers, and making sure we stay on track financially. Laura ensures that everything—from invoicing to budgeting—is running smoothly. Her expertise allows us to make informed decisions and continue to operate efficiently, which is essential as we grow.
Together, we make sure every aspect of Hosted Events runs like a well-oiled machine. Our complementary skills and commitment to the business have allowed us to stay organized, serve our clients well, and keep things moving forward, despite the many challenges that come with balancing work and family life.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
An important lesson Hosted Events has learned is the value of flexibility and adaptability. In the beginning, we relied on a more fixed approach to planning events, but over time, we realized that each event and client is unique. Clients’ needs and expectations can change, and being able to adjust to those changes is key to success.
We’ve learned to listen closely to clients and be ready for unexpected challenges.
