Rising Stars: Meet Greg Minor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Greg Minor.

Hi Greg, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve played sports my whole life. When I finished playing basketball after college I didn’t know what to do. Then Covid-19 hit in 2020 and changed everything. When the pandemic happened I played a lot of video games and started streaming on twitch. After a while, I started really growing my community, and tons of viewers wanted me to create a TikTok. I wasn’t interested in creating it at all, but I’m glad I did. One day I set out to Los Angeles and was lucky enough to meet working actors and producers in the Entertainment industry. Little did I know I would fall into this realm of entertainment and it would be the best thing I’ve ever done.

As an Actor, it’s never easy but you have to be available because you never know when the next audition will be or when that call when come. I worked full-time for an insurance company while pursuing acting. I remember having to schedule time off to go to auditions and when I didn’t have any time off work.

I went to an audition at 10 am and had to come up with an excuse to get off work for an hour. When I arrived at the location for the audition, I did my thing and came back home. A few days later I had to leave work again for the callback. I came up with a separate excuse this time. So I go to the audition and do my thing and head back home. The moment I log back into work at home, I got a call to come back to the audition. It was a 2nd callback on the same day. So I logged back off from work with no paid time off and was on the borderline of getting fired. So, I drove all the way back to the other side of town to the callback. I ended up getting the role of the customer in the Jersey Mikes National Commercial.

I’ve learned so much thus far, but at the end of the day, you have to believe in yourself. If you don’t believe in yourself then who will? Go after what you want, and you’ll be surprised how far you go. I want to be the best actor I can be, by not only challenging myself but to inspire others to follow their dreams and uplift one another. I’m now a full-time actor and I’m not turning back.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have been many challenges along the way and many more to come. Financially, mentally, and physically.

Choosing a path most people don’t understand, that some people resent you for, and a few closest to you truly envy you. This can be a very lonely path.

Michael B Jordan said it best when he said “You almost have to be insane a little bit to have such blind faith in something that you can’t see”. When it comes to something you’re passionate about, you’ll through those times of darkness when you can’t see. There are times when there aren’t any auditions coming, or no bookings in a month.

That doesn’t mean you stop. That doesn’t mean I’m not good enough. Understanding why I do what I do is why I push through. I’m not an actor for any accolades, nor am I an Actor for fame. I’m an Actor because I love what I can do, and knowing that one day when I’m no longer on this earth I can leave something great behind that can help others for many years to come. With that in mind I know I will succeed no matter how bumpy the road will be.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a SAG-eligible Actor, I’m currently working on a couple of pilots (a single television program that is shown in order to find out whether a particular series of programs is likely to be popular), which will be very fun, I’m excited! In Arizona the main market is Commercials, so I’ve done quite a few commercials, you may have seen me in the Jersey Mikes commercial as the customer.

With 2023 finally here, there is a lot of work that will be coming to Arizona. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the future.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I couldn’t just choose one thing. I had a great childhood.

The best childhood experience is one I can continue to have for as long as I can. That’s the ability to spend time with my family. I was fortunate enough to have a close family and getting to grow up with my brothers and sisters was an amazing thing. I’m very thankful.
