Rising Stars: Meet Garett Pierre Rogers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Garett Pierre Rogers. Them and their team share their story with us below:

King Kismet is Producer and DJ Garett Pierre Rogers. Based in Phoenix, Arizona. Kismet is known for being multifaceted with his music and performance style, using his music as a symbol of growth and transformation. Producing a variety of genres, Kismet focuses his sound on Pop, Future Bass, Dubstep, and House music.

King Kismet’s roots for Electronic Music developed growing up in Michigan, going to local shows in Lansing and Detroit. Growing up, he was always dancing to MTV music videos and developed an ear for music early on. He would study piano and guitar and take vocal lessons. In high school, he took a three-hour block at a secondary school, learning about audio production, and then studied music and audio production at a community college after high school.

At the McDowell Mountain Music Festival in 2018, during the Odesza performance, the project King Kismet was born and aligned with the idea that we can create our reality. Inspired by Odesza’s impact on the EDM community and their worldly pop music that anyone could find easily enjoyable, Kismet realized that the only limitations in life are the ones we place on ourselves and that we are in control of our destiny. Kismet’s message is one from his own experience. In situations in his own life where he has had to create his path. Moving away from where he was raised and his friends and family reside to set out on a great adventure and become the person he was always meant to be. To take a path that was uncomfortable and challenging but would bring about the most growth and transformation. To become the kind of person that could uplift and impact many people in his lifetime through his music.

In 2019 when living in Portland, Oregon. He was teaming up with Murderboat Productions to DJ at Turbulence’s music festival known for its secret location at the Mystery Plane In The Woods in Hillsboro, OR, where the DJs played on the wing of a Boeing 727 Airplane. Kismet entered a DJ contest to perform at a local music festival and was picked out of 100 other DJs. Kismet made his debut in front of 2500+ people and left an impression that would allow him to become a Resident Producer and DJ with Murderboat Productions Company. He would go on to perform at a few more events before the company had to shut down due to covid. With everything shut down, Kismet focused on his music and production to elevate himself further and come back from everything with more courage and wisdom.

In June 2021, an opportunity to move to Arizona with two friends came along, and he decided it was time for some more sunshine and to start a new chapter in his life. Having lived in Phoenix for a year in 2016, Kismet moving back felt like coming home. Since moving back, he has been releasing a new song almost every month, and his song ‘Catching Fire’ reaching over 100 thousand streams since it was released in December of 2021. Kismet is currently working on a full-length House album and planning to release more pop-influenced songs by the end of this year. He has most recently played a show in Los Angeles, California, and is planning to start playing shows in Phoenix and Tuscan.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It took me a long time to develop the courage to pursue my music. It has always been my calling and where my heart has led me, but for a long time, I did not believe in myself, and I did not have much faith that things would all work out. Fortunately, I don’t feel that way anymore. I have grown a lot, and I have found my way through trial and error. I have created a vision for my music and life and now have a strong foundation and unwavering faith in myself, my music, and where I can take it. There was a time in my life when I was building a business, chasing many worldly things, and struggling financially to create a life I was proud of. At that time, my music always came second, and it was hard to see it as something I could use to create the life of my dreams. But then I lost everything after a car accident that left me without a car, savings, or credit to get another car. I eventually lost the business I was building. But in losing everything, I also gained everything. After that, I started to see what was important to me, the kind of impact I wanted to have on myself and my growth in this lifetime, and how I could impact everyone I encountered. I started to see how I could leave people better than I found them, even in seemingly insignificant ways. We truly never know how much we impact other people by showing up as ourselves.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I produce Electronic Dance Music. Specifically; Pop, Future Bass, and House Music. I’m known for my music resonating in people’s hearts and souls. I’m most proud of the impact I’ve had on other people. It brings me a lot of happiness knowing that I have personally or that my music has impacted someone significantly. One of the best compliments I’ve received after playing a set was that it was a healing experience for someone. Just being able to share that with my music and to build connections from it is what it has always been about for me. What sets me apart from others is that I care a lot and put a lot of thought and intention into what I do and my music. It has allowed me to connect with people from all walks of life. My music is a representation of growth and transformation, and it is also a reflection of me.

We all have different ways of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as being able to make choices every day that align with my vision and my values. To uplift and enrich the lives of everyone I meet.
