Rising Stars: Meet Eric Sierra of Colorado Springs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Sierra.

Hi Eric, I’m so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m a travel and lifestyle content creator. I’ve grown my personal social media platforms to over 900K followers. My main focus is creating travel and lifestyle content where I can promote healthy, fun, and adventurous activities. I enjoy working with brands that allow me to connect with audiences with similar values.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve had my ups and downs pursuing this career, but ultimately, all that matters is that you learn from your mistakes and keep improving. The content creator industry is all about improving your craft every day. The hardest thing I struggle with is staying active and unique on every post I make.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am grateful and most proud of being able to travel for a living and work with like-minded people who support me. My journey started a few years ago with me filming and editing videos from my iPhone 5. Then, I took myself more seriously and invested my time and money in travel experiences and equipment. I focused on building my portfolio and expanding my skills, eventually opening doors for me. I was able to meet other creators and work with companies who share similar values as mine. At times, it wasn’t easy, but it all led me to where I am now, and most of my experiences, good and bad, make for good stories to tell. Good things take time, and I’ve learned that you must trust yourself and your craft. In the end, what makes you unique in this field is your set of skills and creativity. The lifestyle I portray now was built on hours behind the camera and my laptop, learning how I could grow, improve, and prepare for any future obstacles that might come my way. I look forward to more opportunities to showcase my work and share what I do with my audiences.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Throughout the years, I have always considered myself to be a risk-taker. Risk equals opportunity. I have been blessed enough to face countless opportunities where my life has changed due to the risks I’ve been willing to take. As the iconic quote goes: “No risk, no reward.” To be fully transparent, I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for those times I challenged myself to leap. I want to think that I encourage my audiences to step out of their comfort zones and take risks every day, from the bigger, more obvious risks like jumping out of an airplane for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure to the smaller yet just as powerful risks like being confident and staying true to yourself on a day to day basis. Ultimately, I believe risk-taking is the first step to getting closer to your goals, so I will continue taking risks and inspiring others to do the same.
