Rising Stars: Meet Emilee Jones of Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emilee Jones.

Hi Emilee, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started in the alcohol beverage industry during college in 2004 at Four Peaks Brewery in Tempe, Arizona. Working at a local microbrewery, I fell in love with the community that supported the craft of making beer and developed a great respect for those who made it. After graduating, I was a sales representative for one of the country’s largest wine and spirits distributors, where I was introduced to customer and retail relationship building. I then succeeded as a regional sales manager for Clase Azul Spirits, one of the most recognized premium tequila brands, and later, for other notable startup tequila brands. Visiting the distilleries in Mexico awakened my passion for traditional tequila making. I joined Tequila Corrido as a Director of Sales and Marketing because tequila is exceptional and should be shared with everyone. I am inspired by the tenacity and passion the partners of Tequila Corrido possess, and I am honored to represent what they have worked so hard to bring to the US. With my spectacular team of industry professionals, Tequila Corrido has broken through the Texas market, securing the spirit onto the top shelves of nearly 100 fine retailers, including the state’s largest retailer, Specs. Today, Tequila Corrido is in 7 states and over 500 locations across the country, with plans for strategic expansion.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Being very young and often the only woman in the room early in my career, I was determined to be taken seriously and earn the respect of my peers. This inspired me always to be the expert on my brands and to step up as a leader. If I could get my foot in the door, my knowledge would earn me a seat at the table.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’ve been disrupting the beverage industry for 15 years. As the Director of Sales and Marketing at Tequila Corrido, I build important relationships with consumers, accounts, and distributors to establish a strong presence in new markets. I’m growing a core team and helping with hiring and strategic execution. I’m most proud of my work in assisting Tequila Corrido to make a huge impact in new markets outside of Arizona. We entered Texas in February and have secured nearly 100 fine retailers to have Tequila Corrido on its top shelves. I am proud to call myself a certified Catador in 2021, the tequila equivalent of a wine sommelier. With this title, I aim to share the authentic story and dedication from the agave fields back home to consumers in the United States.

What do you think about luck?
I am fortunate to have grown up with a supportive family and be healthy and happy today. I never take those things for granted. Luck is only half of the story! My commitment to learning and developing my skills is the other half that has led me to success. Luckily, my job is so much fun, but I put in a lot of hard work, time, and commitment to get where I am.
