Rising Stars: Meet Danny Daley of phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danny Daley.

Hi Danny, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am the youngest of 6 kids. But I never felt like the youngest, I was always the protector. The one who people could go to for literally anything. I was wise beyond years. I learned from so many people that helped me become who I am today. I always felt like the underdog. I felt small amongst giants. But I didn’t feel like I had to prove myself. I wanted to be the one to help others get to where they were going. It was never about me. What really set it off was being in the Army base in England. I thought wow, these people are masters at what they do. My dad would always tell me, “Don’t jack your trades, son.” or “Don’t ask for money, always focus on what you could learn from everything you do.” The idea for BBB came before I knew it. The catalyst was my mum passing away. I wanted to share my story and inspire others to share theirs. We are all more alike than we think. It’s not about me, I got what I needed out of life. I want people to see that they have done more than they even believe or that they are capable of. Do or do not, there is no try. As Yoda said.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There was a blank period in my life where I felt like out of my body. It’s a void in my subconscious where I almost feel like I could be hypnotized to get those memories back. Everyone has some sort of childhood trauma. But my biology teacher took me to the side at a young age and said there is no gray area in life. The struggle was trying to educate myself because I always felt so dumb. I was never naturally gifted. I worked so hard to achieve everything, while I saw others succeeding so easily. I actually thought there was a curse on me, that I would never do anything great in life. I finally realized that that belief in YOURSELF, and not trying to be like others was the true answer to the struggles in life.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I started my studies in Fitness and Nutrition back in the U.K. at London Metropolitan University where I studied Sports and Biological Sciences. There I conducted a yearlong research study as part of my thesis, on Somatotypes-dealing with Genetics, body types and the effect this has on achieving certain fitness goals. This study has aided me in my success as a personal trainer, Bodybuilding competitor, Bodyguard, and Military Professional. After getting my degree over 20 years ago I have gone on to work at the former Jack LaLanne studio in New York, which Bally bought out many years ago. I was one of the original Personal Trainers as Jack LaLanne was the brains behind the idea of “personal training”. I’ve trained celebrities, athletes in all categories whether it’s collegiate, Middle school or professional, and all of them that have desired to achieve national recognition for their skills have gone on to do so. Amidst this, I am also a trained martial artists and combat fighter, of which skills I’ve used in a 20 year bodyguard career, my military career in both the Queens Protection in London, and as a U.S. Army Paratrooper here in America. After some injuries in the military here in the U.S. forced me into retirement about 13 years ago, I started doing personal training and athletic coaching so I could take all the skills that I’ve learned over the years and help motivate and train individuals in the arts of fitness and wellness, athletics, martial arts, combat style kickboxing andboot camps, fighting techniques and self defense. Been a long road!!! But despite all of this, I am most proud of being a father, brother, and son. and I think that that is what sets me apart from others. My love for my family and community is WHY I do what I do.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I am actually very introverted. But people think I am an extrovert, but I am honestly just extroverted when it comes to the subjects I specialize in, that I love to teach people. Oh and people think I don’t cry, but I do.
