Rising Stars: Meet Corrynne Belyew of Peoria

Today we’d like to introduce you to Corrynne Belyew

Hi Corrynne, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started Homestead Happiness in March of 2024 after graduating from Arizona Culinary Institute in December. During my culinary school experience, I had some amazing opprotunities to interview and work with many esteem chefs, and esteem restaurants, including one in Chicago.
After discovering that the restaurant business was not my fortee nor my passion, I decided to open Homestead Happiness, and pursue my dream of opening a soup truck. Setting up a booth at the farmers markets each week, growing an amazing clientelle, has been a dream come true.

Since being open since March, we have been attendees of many amazing farmers markets, Arrowhead Farmers Market, Uptown Wednesday Market, and Sun City Farmers Market as well as a retail store, Retail Therapy AZ in the Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
For the most part it has been smooth, after joining the Local First AZ food program in June, it has been much smoother. In the beginning we struggled to find an affordable place to produce our soups, and that has put us back a little, but we are on a good track moving forward.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a food entrepreneuer and a soup business owner there is a lot of creativity that comes with owning a business like mine. All of our recipes are original and tested, and we take pride in having some amazingly tasting soups, and good processes to enusre our soups are good quality.
We utilize fresh and local ingredients to ensure we have a amazing tasting and high quality soups. Almost all of our ingredients come from local farms, growers and suppliers in Arizona. We take flavor seriously, we taste at every stage of the soup making process to ensure our soups are flavorful with every bite.
Our sourdough bread is made with precison and love, and we have mastered the craft, something that is not easy to do.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory has to be when we visited my family in Colorado in 2005, is snowed so much, there was at least 2-3 feet on the ground, we build tunnels and even an igloo in the snow. There was so much snow that we could even tube down the small hill at the park, it was a great time with family and the community all came together and had a blast.

Pricing:

  • Our soups range in price from $10-$12, dependent on the flavor of soup, and for that price you receive 8oz of soup.
  • Our sourdough bread bowls cost $5.
  • Large and specialty flavored sourdough (such as jalapeno cheddar or blueberry lemon) range from $10-$15.
