Rising Stars: Meet Celina Alvarado

Today we’d like to introduce you to Celina Alvarado.

Hi Celina, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always been very crafty. I always asked God if he can show me a way where I can do my crafts and make some money. I first started decorating old wine bottles and selling them on Etsy. I made 2 sales in 6 months haha. And then 5 years later I went to the store, bought a whole bunch of stuff to make a wreath and I was like, “Whoa! I’m actually pretty good at this.” I practiced for a whole year until I was comfortable enough to start selling. I did my first event at a Farmers Market in El Paso TX in 2019 and I sold out!

I was so excited! Kept me motivated to keep going. I moved to Az in 2020, the world shut down, and I got pregnant and was sick as a dog for nine months. I am a stay-at-home/work-from-home mama so I had to learn to manage my time. I finally got my groove back and started my wreathes back up again! I am so excited about a Scottsdale Event on Dec 2,3 &4 and more events in 2023!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The only bumpiness I had was being pregnant. I threw up every day for nine months.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I customize wreaths.

I have done custom orders from Halloween, Nightmare before Xmas, Fall wreaths, Xmas wreaths, and extra large wreaths. I just started doing events again! I also just started my YouTube channel teaching how I make my wreaths. I received a Cricut machine last Xmas from my BFF and I am also starting to make signs as well.

The ideas are endless!

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love Gilbert! I rarely leave it! There is everything here including local small businesses that I love to visit. That includes Roadworks and the Coffee Shop!
