Today we’d like to introduce you to Camryn W..
Camryn , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve been an animal lover for as long as I can remember. Over the past decade, I’ve worked in many areas of the canine industry across Arizona’s East and West Valley, which has given me the opportunity to meet incredible dogs, dedicated professionals, and passionate pet owners.
As an Arizona native, I also had the chance to live in Dublin, Ireland, for 18 months. One of my favorite parts of living there was the dog-friendly culture. It was so common to see people bringing their dogs to pubs, cafés, and other local businesses, and it was amazing to watch how dogs naturally brought people together.
When I moved back to Arizona, I realized there was a lack of resources dedicated to helping dog owners discover truly dog-friendly places. That’s what inspired me to create Dog Days AZ. My goal is to make it easy for people to find great places to enjoy with their dogs year-round, whether that’s indoor spots to escape the summer heat or patios, parks, and hiking trails during our cooler months.
Today, I primarily feature businesses and hidden gems throughout the East Valley, with plans to continue expanding my free guide across state 48.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Overall, it’s been an incredible journey and a true blessing. Of course, it hasn’t been without its challenges. Creating a free community resource takes a significant investment of time, energy, and personal resources, but I truly believe in what I’m building.
Every challenge has been worth it because I’ve been able to share my love of dogs, connect with even more of Arizona’s amazing canine community, and help bring visibility and new customers to local businesses. Seeing those connections happen is what keeps me motivated, and I know this is just the beginning of what I hope Dog Days AZ will become.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Currently, I wear a few different hats. I’m a mobile content creator specializing in businesses and weddings, a commissioned artist, and of course, a local dog-friendly guide!
I’ve always believed that filling your life with work you’re passionate about is the best way to live. While each of my creative paths is different, they’re all rooted in the same goal: building connections and creating something meaningful for others.
With Dog Days AZ, what sets me apart is my commitment to keeping it a free resource for the community. My focus has never been to create barriers for dog owners looking for great places to explore. Instead, I want to make discovering dog-friendly businesses simple while being a positive, collaborative partner for the local businesses I feature. Supporting local, strengthening the community, and helping both people and businesses thrive is what I’m most proud of.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Zuko and Nova are the heart and soul of Dog Days Arizona. They’re 6- and 7-year-old Mini Aussie Pomeranians who join me on nearly every adventure.
Zuko was rescued right here in Phoenix, Arizona, and Nova was originally from a property in Utah. They’re a dynamic duo with big personalities, and they’ve become the faces of our community.
My partner, our two pups, and I are incredibly grateful to every dog-friendly business that opens its doors to dogs and their humans. You’re the reason this community continues to grow. And to everyone who has followed along, shared recommendations, and supported Dog Days AZ. Thank you. We truly appreciate each and every one of you.
