Rising Stars: Meet Cameron Bailey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cameron Bailey.

Hi Cameron, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Before I started my creation with music, I actually started with poetry. I wrote a few poems in elementary school and realized that my teachers/peers really loved them. I then knew I had something special within. From that point forward, I started creating music.

It’s never easy to start anything, so it took me quite some time to find my niche…I’m talking YEARS. I feel as though I’m at the point where I am now is because I honed my skills and talents over and over throughout the years.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
With any dream/aspiration, it’s never an easy road unless your parents are rich. 😅

I can’t even count how many times I’ve ran into “managers” who said they would help advance my career just to take thousands of dollars from me. Those kind of people pry on an upcoming artist who doesn’t know the business side. I hate that it’s like that but people can be evil.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
First and foremost, I am a rapper at heart. I also do sing at times, as I was in chorus classes from elementary to high school.

I would say I specialize in putting my feelings into the track and you can empathize with how I feel. I’m very good at explaining my pain I would say.

I’m most proud of celebrity rappers like Bow Wow giving me praise on my music. Every artist has that thought like “Is my music really good enough?”, and I feel like if you hear it from a vet in the game then you’re headed in the right direction.

What sets me apart is not only my beat selection but my song topics. I don’t talk about guns or drugs since I don’t do neither. I talk about life experiences or my thoughts on certain topics in a way that keeps the listener engaged.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My advice would be to BE YOU. So many artists try to copy others and it may work for a little while but you will never be recognized as an original blueprint in the game.

Something I wish I knew is that a lot of you friends may be “yes” men, meaning they will say yes, your stuff is good no matter what. It’s important to seek outside criticism.
