Rising Stars: Meet Barret Elengold of Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Barret Elengold.

Hi Barret, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My interest and love for photography began when I worked for a production company after graduating high school. My first day on the job I was introduced to digital photography and from that moment, I could not put the camera down. I took pictures of everything and became the company’s main photographers shortly after. Fast forward a few years later, I decided to take a leap and start my own venture, Scottsdale Event Photography. I have been doing photography for the last 10 years and absolutely love it.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth road? lol. NO! Not at all.

We are not taught business and its a lot of trial and error. Those who can keep going will eventually break through.

Luckily I was working full time and photography was a side hustle. A side hustle I have sacrificed and worked tirelessly for to replace my full time!

Some struggles along the way:
not enough customers
keeping up with marketing
technology (software and hardware)
investing (ROI?)
reviews
schedule an event during work (call in sick or use PTO or hire/finding a reliable contractor)
the list goes on…

I am a professional photographer in the Scottsdale/Phoenix area, I specialize in capturing the essence of events, from corporate gatherings to high-energy sports functions! I am known for having an eye for detail and a passion for storytelling, My work transforms moments into lasting memories.

I’m most proud of my ability to consistently deliver high-quality images that exceed my clients’ expectations. My work isn’t just about taking pictures; it’s about creating a visual narrative that reflects the energy, emotions, and experiences of the moment.
