Rising Stars: Meet Ashley Beeman of New River

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Beeman.

Ashley Beeman

Hi Ashley, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I started as a health and fitness coach online in 2011, 8 months after I had my first son. I was bound and determined to lose the baby weight, and I thought, what better way to hold myself accountable than to share my journey online and help other women do the same? Unfortunately, it didn’t play out as I had planned. I had convinced myself that if I were to make my body smaller, everything in my life would change. I thought I would have more confidence, make more money, and have a better life overall. I put all of my worth into the way that my body looked. Which only lead me down a profound, dark path of stimulant addiction for YEARS and an eating disorder. It didn’t matter how small my body got. The guilt, shame, and hate I had towards it controlled my life. I never was able to lose the weight and keep it off entirely; I just continued in a cycle of yo-yo dieting for 8 years. All while I was trying to help other women lose weight, to say I was a hot mess is an understatement.

Eventually, I couldn’t do it anymore. I decided to give up my addiction to stimulants and heal my relationship with my body. During this time, I realized I was not in a space to help women change their bodies, and I promised myself, along with the world, that I would never coach in the wellness space again. I felt like the wellness space was dark and only offered false hope. I went on to coach women on confidence, and my second love was social media. I love creating content. I have created over 10,000 pieces of content and always get questions about how to make content creation easy. So that became my business.

While I worked on healing my relationship with my body and food, I realized that health is much more than how your body looks. I realized that health and confidence are not a size or a look. I started to look at health as all-encompassing, meaning it works as an entire whole with your mind, body, and soul, not in separate parts. I also started studying the subconscious mind and became a neurolinguistic programming trainer. I have over 500 hours of training in this field. I slowly saw the missing link in my health/weight loss journey. I finally felt free in my body and had true confidence. It didn’t matter if I was overweight or if my body looked different than others. I truly felt comfortable for the first time in my life.

Eventually, I would go on to lose 60lbs, keeping it off for 4 years, and now I compete in bodybuilding competitions. As I continued my journey of coaching women to build their brands on social media, I noticed something. Anytime they feel frustrated with their content or the things happening in their business, we always go back to talking about their health, fitness, and nutrition. We would create healthy habits, and once they became consistent with them, they would have more time, energy, creativity, and confidence. Plus, their content creation would be so much better. I couldn’t help but see that health is the foundation of everything we do. Health is indeed wealth. Even though I promised myself and the world that I would never step back into the wellness space, I couldn’t help but continue to get pulled back. I knew I had figured out the missing link and could help many women stop the cycle of yo-yo dieting.

So, I made the pivot back into the wellness space. I stopped directly helping my clients make money and started indirectly helping them through their health journey. I take a holistic approach to health with my clients, focusing on nutrition, fitness, and mindset, working with the subconscious mind to make identity shifts that allow their results to be sustainable for a lifetime. I now help women lose weight for life, and I love what I do. I do not have a brick-and-mortar business. All of the coaching I do is online. I offer 1:1 and group coaching. I have something available for everyone.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This has not been a smooth road. Until recently, I really hadn’t found my groove regarding what exactly I wanted to build my business around. Although I loved coaching women on their social media content and brands, I wasn’t passionate about it and struggled to get my business off the ground. Now that I have pivoted and am passionate about what I am doing, my business has taken off quickly, but this is also because I have put in over 10 years of work. I have created content almost every single day since October 2011. I invested a ton of money into myself and my business before I saw a return. Even though there were many times I wanted to give up, I never did; I just put one foot in front of the other. The more action I took, the more clarity I gained. Also, healing from a drug addiction while sharing your life with the world was a struggle. I did not share my story on social media until I was a year sober in June of 2017.

Thanks for sharing that. So, tell us more about your work next.
I am an online wellness coach. I specialize in helping women wake up from the yo-yo diet nightmare and lose weight for life. I focus on fitness, nutrition, and mindset (subconscious work) with my clients. I am most proud of overcoming my struggles with food, body image, and addiction while helping others do the same. My subconscious work with my clients sets me apart from other wellness coaches. Anyone can give a fitness and nutrition plan, but the real work comes with implantation and mindset. When people can approach health as all-encompassing, including their mind, body, and soul, their results tend to be sustainable for a lifetime. I also have been through it all myself, so personally, I understand the struggle of yo-yo dieting and hating your body.
