Rising Stars: Meet Arlynn Godinez of Superior

Today we’d like to introduce you to Arlynn Godinez.

Hi Arlynn, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
The Superior Enterprise Center began as a bold vision to revitalize the economic heart of Superior, Arizona — transforming historic space into a modern hub for business, training, and community opportunity.

The idea took root in 2016, when the Town Council set an ambitious strategic goal to invest in a multigenerational community center that would expand local quality of life, support residents, and diversify the town’s economy beyond its mining legacy. Initially, the plan called for constructing a new building — but as costs rose, leaders pivoted to an inspired alternative: purchasing and repurposing the Original Superior High School, a treasured local landmark built in 1925.

Once acquired, this historic site became the Superior Enterprise Center’s home, a place where education, small business support, workforce training, and community engagement could flourish under one roof. The Center was established through collaboration among the Town of Superior, the nonprofit Rebuild Superior Inc., and Resolution Copper, whose financial support and shared commitment to community development provided critical early funding and momentum.

From the beginning, the mission has been clear: to serve as a one-stop shop for business resources and workforce training, helping existing and aspiring entrepreneurs succeed while enriching the local community through expanded services and opportunities. Through workshops, co-working spaces, and outreach, the Enterprise Center has steadily become a vibrant hub that reflects Superior’s forward-looking spirit.

Over time, the Center has continued to grow and evolve. It has launched innovative programs — from welding and skilled trades training in partnership with Central Arizona College and Resolution Copper, to tech access initiatives like The HIVE, a digital equity hub designed to bridge the technology gap for students, entrepreneurs, and residents alike.

Today, the Superior Enterprise Center stands as a testament to what community partnership and creative reuse of historic assets can achieve: a launchpad for entrepreneurial dreams, a training ground for tomorrow’s workforce, and a welcoming space where residents of all ages can connect, learn, and grow.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As with any major building rehabilitation project, the journey was not without challenges. Renovating a nearly century-old structure brought unexpected hurdles, including difficulties securing skilled trades professionals to complete critical electrical upgrades. At the same time, building awareness around new workforce offerings—such as welding classes—required persistence and creativity. Much of the renovation work was completed through a bootstrapped approach, relying on determination, partnerships, and resourcefulness. Today, those efforts have paid off, and the Superior Enterprise Center stands as a space the community can take pride in—one shaped by resilience and a shared commitment to making the vision a reality.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
