Rising Stars: Meet Angelique Overton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelique Overton.

Hi Angelique, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My story began about 2 and half years ago when I had reached a point in my life where I was extremely unhappy, unmotivated, and hopeless. I went through a bout of depression for several years trying to figure out what I was living for. The obvious reason was my children, but I felt that I was truly meant for more. The Angelique Beauty is a luxury beauty brand born out of the concept to inspire women to rise and renew themselves with bold lip wear and cosmetics! As someone who always struggled with self-confidence growing up, I want to empower women to step into their higher-self and feel confident about what they put on their lips. What sets my business apart is the symbolism of my brand logo.

We can rise from the challenges and tribulations as a beautiful Phoenix, a mythical bird known to cyclically burn to death and is reborn from its ashes. My family inspires me every day to be better, stronger, and wiser. In turn, I wish to inspire other women, like myself to soar. My mission is to have closer customer relationships by empowering women to understand that the true spirit of beauty is rooted in confidence, both inside and out. These elegant pieces are formulated without harmful ingredients such as parabens, so you can add a lustrous glow or pop of color to any outfit, for any occasion and remain safe & cruelty-free! My goal is to reach entrepreneurial women like myself and help them apply clean makeup and boldly tell their stories. The Angelique Beauty is “Always #BoldlyYou!”

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
With any new venture, there will always be challenges. There was a ton of imposter syndrome and feelings or self-doubt in the beginning. I let the opinion of a dear friend keep me from finishing my website and dragged my feet publishing it. The road to building the Angelique Beauty has not been an easy one. It took a while to narrow down what I wanted to do or begin to sell. Once I decided I wanted to start with lip gloss, that’s when my journey really began. What most people don’t know is I had done a fashion show in downtown Los Angeles as a young adult and the makeup artist put the most hideous bright orange lipstick on me and from that point on, I never wore lipstick or makeup again.

I was scared and embarrassed. So, for me to choose to start selling lipstick and cosmetics was a bold move. I had to overcome a lot of fear and resentment and step into a new version of myself. As I did this, I realized I wanted to help other women do the same. I want to be able to do this for women in my business by helping them find confidence in my cosmetics. I want to inspire women to be intentionally who they are without fear. I want women to know that we all have the same opportunity to succeed in this world, we just have to take that leap of faith to find what’s on the other side. I promise you, it will be worth it!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have the biggest heart and I love to see transformations and glow ups in people, it gives me such joy. As I’ve mentioned, I have struggled with self-esteem and self-confidence my entire life and I want to inspire women to be intentionally who they are without fear. I want to be able to do this for women in my business by helping them find confidence in my cosmetics. I am open-minded and always willing to learn and donate when I can. I want to give back to charity and groups that support the underprivileged and underserved.

Most of all, I want to help women feel amazing wearing my products. One of my first clients, Jessica Bargenquast of LadyChangeMakers, had never purchased lipstick before and made her first purchase with one of my bold lipwear products. Now I see her rocking all sorts of lipsticks all the time like it’s no big deal and I love the confidence that grew in her from applying lipstick! I have seen her blossom into a bold business woman that is ready to conquer the world and it brings me pleasure knowing that I was part of her story. The first lipstick I bought from Angelique, and possibly the first lipstick ever, was a hot pink color that I wasn’t even sure I could pull off. But being able to connect with Angelique, I quickly found that wearing a fun, bold color helped to bring out the confidence I knew I had inside and show it off to the world!” This is what I set out to achieve and to know that I’ve accomplished that through personal testimonies like this is what I am most proud of.

What’s next?
My passion has always been in fashion and that’s what I plan on bringing aboard in the future to this brand. I also would like to expand my cosmetic line into natural skincare products such as facial oils and lip scrubs. Stay tuned, this is all in the works for release early next year!
