Hi Alyssa, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hello I’m Alyssa Breann Tate, The face behind Desert Sunset Collective. This business was created with a vision to capture countless memories, with each session tailored specifically to each client. my passion for photography began in childhood, when I would use any camera I could possibly find, sparking a lifelong love for the craft. My business launch began with a sticky note full of vision. Although teaching is my full time job, I never quite felt that it fulfilled all of my desires in terms of creating, which is why in January 2024 I decided to officially launch my dream. With a whole lot of prayer, Guidance from incredible mentor friends and doors that continued to swing open, I knew It was the perfect time. The key to this business success is the foundation; Christ, Genuine clients who become friends and of course having a community over competition outlook.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ve been blessed to build a strong community of loyal clients. The main challenge arises in the summer when many people want outdoor sessions but hesitate due to the heat. This has opened the door for me in turn to connect with some incredible photo studio owners, enabling me to support other local small businesses, bringing my heart so much joy.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
What sets me apart from other photographers is my passion for neutrals. Many clients seek outfit inspiration to match the aesthetic of my portfolio. I particularly enjoy working with couples, children, and small families. As a teacher by day, my patience and understanding with kids is a cornerstone of my approach—if we need to take a snack break, there’s no extra charge. This is my passion, and I prioritize building genuine relationships with my clients over strictly focusing on financial gain. My sessions blend posed shots with candid moments, resulting in a gallery filled with black and white images alongside those edited in warm fall tones.

Pricing:

• $325 an Hour ( Studio fee + Travel fee is additional)
• $250 30 Minutes (Studio fee + Travel fee is additional)
• $350 an hour ( Family Session over 6 Individuals Studio fee + Travel fee is additional
• Anniversary Elopement Style Shoots start at $375 +
• Elopements * Price varies on location
