We recently had the chance to connect with Qiayz and have shared our conversation below.
Qiayz, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
You know what’s wild? Most people are at war with their ego — silently. It’s that hidden voice that says, “You’re not enough unless they see you.” It wears confidence like armor, but underneath… it’s fear dressed in designer. Ego will have you chasing claps, not clarity. It’ll make peace feel too quiet, like something’s missing — when really, that silence is your power calling you back. Real strength? It’s when you can walk in a room and not need to prove a thing. Just exist. Just be. That’s the kind of energy that can’t be touched.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Qiayz — an artist, creator, and visionary who lives where sound, style, and spirit intersect. My world blends hip-hop, funk, soul, and a touch of futuristic femininity — it’s mysterious, empowering, and unapologetically luxe. Everything I make is about energy and elevation — helping people feel powerful in their truth, like they’re stepping into their highest self.
My brand isn’t just music — it’s an experience. It’s about presence, self-worth, and the art of being seen without asking for permission. Right now, I’m working on expanding the visual world around my sound — fusing movement, color, and emotion into something cinematic. Think: sound you can see, emotion you can wear.
At the core of it, I’m building a universe — one that invites people to feel more like themselves, only amplified.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
The man who raised me taught me everything about work. He’s a truck driver now — but he’s been a chef, a manager, a police officer, even a spy. He refuses to retire and can’t talk about anything but work.
That energy shaped me. I’m the same way, just with music. Where he finds meaning in the grind, I find it in creation. That unstoppable drive — it’s in me too.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Oh, absolutely. I’ve “quit” music at least twenty times — no exaggeration. There were moments where the pressure, the doubt, the constant grind just felt too heavy. I told myself, “That’s it, I’m done.” And I really meant it. I’d walk away, shut everything down, disappear for a while.
But with time, I realized I wasn’t quitting — I was taking a hiatus. I needed space to breathe, to evolve, to remember why I started in the first place. Every time I came back, I returned sharper, clearer, and more connected to my purpose. Now I understand those breaks weren’t endings — they were recalibrations.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
God — always. God is the foundation of everything I am and everything I create. I don’t have to say it often, because His presence is already in everything I do — the way I move, the way I trust, the way I rise after every fall.
God is my quiet compass. He keeps me grounded when the world gets loud, and He reminds me that none of this — the art, the moments, the light — is by accident.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say I was never too serious — that I kept things light, made them laugh, and brought warmth wherever I went. I want them to remember me as the energy that lifted the room, the spark that made life feel a little easier, a little brighter.
If they say I was the light in their lives — even for a moment — that’s enough for me.
