We recently had the chance to connect with nicole nicolas and have shared our conversation below.
nicole, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is a normal day like for you right now?
These days, I’m a full-time artist and a mom of two little ones, so my routine is all about finding balance. Some mornings I’m sketching ideas with a baby on my lap, other days I’m just celebrating that I managed to paint something between snack times and naps. It’s chaos and creativity rolled into one, and I wouldn’t trade it.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Poetic Nicki — I’m a self-taught artist known for blending street art vibes with a touch of realism. My work celebrates emotion, identity, and storytelling through color and movement. Right now, I’m growing my brand while balancing motherhood and creativity — proving that you can chase dreams and raise babies at the same time.”
I’m currently preparing for my next gallery showcase with my friend Boujee Brush, opening December 19 through January 6. It’s a dream come true to share our worlds side by side and celebrate creativity, community, and growth.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Losing my dad when I was six shaped the way I see the world forever. It taught me early on how fragile and precious life really is. Family became everything to me — the root of my strength and the heart of my art. Now, as a mom, I’m learning to balance love, loss, and life all at once. Every painting I create carries a piece of that — a reminder to honor where I come from and the people who made me who I am.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me that losses don’t mean you’re losing — they mean you’re learning. If you let them stop you, you’ll never know the joy that comes after. There’s so much that happens behind the scenes that people don’t see, but that’s where I built my strength and found my purpose.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
They’d probably say I care about my family, my art, and keeping my peace. I’m big on love, loyalty, and living with intention — making sure everything I pour into the world comes from a real place.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Have you ever gotten what you wanted, and found it did not satisfy you?
I’ve gotten what I wanted before, only to realize it wasn’t what I needed. We live in a world of overconsumption — always reaching for the next thing — but that kind of hunger never ends. What truly fills me now is connection, creativity, and being present in real life.
