Meet Zaneta Luna of Zaneta’s Art in El Mirage

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zaneta Luna.

Zaneta, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
It all began at the age of four. One day, I was home running around and snuck into my older sisters bedroom to get to their colored pencils and markers. I remember dumping everything out and got to coloring on a blank page. From then on, I was obsessed with drawing. At first, it was just scribbles, then, it turned into stick figures that later would become random stories that popped into my head kind of like a storybook. By the time I was 10, I was drawing full scenarios of really anything I could think of. I really started getting into drawing characters around that age as well. Powerpuff Girls, Spongebob, and my favorite jack Skelington. Before you know it, I could draw anything as long as it was in front of me. I guess you can say at an early age I started to really pay attention to detail. Listening to music and drawing became a lifelong hobby and I always knew Id never let it go. I was always drawing something for someone growing up. They knew me in school as “The girl that could draw.” Starting at the age of around 19, I really wanted to start making money off of my art. I realized painting canvas’s and getting them out there was my foot in the door. My art had been hung in spas, tattoo shops, homes, and yoga studios before you know it. I was given the opportunity to sell my paintings at a local street fair by the age of 20. It wasn’t much of a success but that never slowed me down. I just knew the next time around I will be more prepared. I’ve had 2 children and although being a parent is a full time job making room to paint and draw will always fit in my schedule. I now sell my art on a commission basis through social media and word of mouth in hopes of being able to do much bigger paintings ( Murals) full time. But for now, I am happy selling and bringing peoples vision to life on canvas.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
They say, practice makes perfect and that’s true. I will always be a work in progress but I’m happy with how far I’ve come and even when there are times where I wanted to give up. I recently just lost my mother about a week ago and I know she would want me to ride out to my full potential so that’s exactly what I will do.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Zaneta’s art – what should we know?
My business is based on commission artwork. Anything any of my customers want they will get. Here and there I will create my own art and alot of people will take interest in that. I mainly do paintings on canvas. I have been doing this for about 5 years now. What sets me apart from others is the quality of art and style of painting. I will frame the artwork for commissions to give the piece more originality. Every frame is different.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I am a solo artist. But honestly, I wouldn’t do what I do if it wasn’t for my family and friends cheering me on my whole life. My tattoo artist for pretty much being my therapist and telling me that it’s gonna take time to get to where I want and to my clients for trusting me to make them pieces they can cherish forever.
