Meet Zachary Hughes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zachary Hughes.

Hi Zachary, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I got into woodworking simply because it was something I enjoyed doing. It started as an at-home hobby, and over time has turned into something more. We started with our own projects – furniture for us and diy projects around the house but after some time, we decided that we wanted to try and turn it into something more than just a hobby.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Up until it switched over from just a hobby to something I wanted to do full time, it was smoother. It then turned into finding the balance of learning how to have a business and also hone my skills while still working a full-time job. There’s still a long road ahead but that is also part of what is so exciting. We’ve been lucky enough to have some pretty great people give us an opportunity and refer others, and that keeps us motivated.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I design and craft custom designs. This can be anything from custom cabinets/built-ins to one-of-a-kind furniture. What I’m most passionate about is making furniture pieces. I’m proud of how far the quality of my work has come and the ability to grow my workshop.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Luck I think, sparked the fire and now it has been about keeping that fire burning and taking full advantage of the opportunities that we’ve been lucky enough to have been presented with. It has been totally by luck that we’ve had people interested in giving us an opportunity to quote or build something for them. We’re just so humbled by the support.
