Meet Chris Badulescu of A-Z Easy Accounting in Mesa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Badulescu.

Chris, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
After graduating from Arizona State University in Spring of 2014 with a double business degree in Accountancy and Computer Information Systems, I chose the accounting route and began my corporate accounting career.

During college, I had experimented with different gigs, such as working part-time teaching tennis and tutoring for math and accounting. While I never really considered starting a business in the education field, I always had in mind starting a business that somehow related to my degrees.

In Spring of 2017, I had to pick between advancing at a well paying full-time accounting job that was not in my desired field or accepting a part-time position at a local accounting services business. I chose the latter, taking into consideration that working part-time would make it easier for me to pursue my CPA certification. At this point, I realized that the work I was doing at my new job I could do for myself and get my own clients. I soon after began looking for bookkeeping clients and soon after began expanding the services offered.

As of now, my company offers basic bookkeeping services, QuickBooks Online setup and training, and personal tax services. Once I become certified (in the next 12 months), I will specialize my services and bring more team members aboard.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has been alright; my main issue has been getting serious clients.

I usually get few leads every month followed by questions from leads, but many times this ends with the lead getting the information needed and disappearing not to respond again.

I just need to pick a more reliable marketing channel to use (currently just using Craigslist and word of mouth). I will do this when tax season gets closer and once I finish studying for my first part of CPA exam.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
As of now, my company is not very specialized in a specific industry. We offer basic bookkeeping, QuickBooks Online Training and Setup, and personal tax services- services that can be utilized by any small business in most industries.

A-Z Easy Accounting is different than other similar companies as we really focus on meeting the client’s needs by emphasizing good communication throughout the time working with the client.

I am proud that, although we are very young, we are getting to know the market by working with clients from all different industries.

What were you like growing up?
I was a hyper child that always had big dreams. I always wanted to be able to help people and I participated in various fundraisers such as raising money for UNICEF on Halloween and raising money for the American Heart Association.

I have always had an interest in sports and helping people. I continue to have these interests as I am always active- now I am focusing on helping others with my accounting knowledge.
