Today we’d like to introduce you to Yogi Bryan.
Bryan is a Yoga Instructor, Meme Maker, and Co-Host of The Yogi Show Podcast. It all started from creating an Instagram page to make fun of yoga. Yogi Bryan created an Instagram account in Jan 2016 with the sole purpose TO MAKE FUN OF YOGA. Before this, he dabbled with the practice.
Bryan was first introduced to yoga with a Rodney Yee AM Yoga DVD. He liked this because it was only 20 minutes and super easy. He practiced AM Yoga for about two months regularly and noticed a big improvement with flexibility and anxiety… but after two months, he stopped practicing. Yogi Bryan later tried Kundalini Yoga and loved it but it wasn’t much of a regular practice. To make a long story short, he had no clue what he was doing when he started an Instagram yoga page to make fun of yoga.
Fast forward months later, he was asked to host a yoga challenge on Instagram. Bryan had no clue what to do so he reached out to a Yoga Instructor he became friends with on Instagram. The challenge was a success so he figured he better learns yoga to help grow his Instagram. The next week he joined a yoga studio and fell in love with the practice. Two weeks later, Bryan enrolled in Yoga Teacher Training and the rest is history.
Several months later, Bryan created the clothing company Namaste AF LLC, which has been rebranded to Yogi Bryan Clothing. Bryan and his wife Samantha create humorous yoga and meditation shirts at www.yogibryan.com.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road at all. I started the brand on Instagram in January 2016. Since then, I’ve had to figure out suppliers, designs, which website, payment processor to use and figure out marketing strategies. It’s definitely a lot of work. I manage all my social media accounts and try to respond to every message and comment. Recently I had to rebrand from the name Namaste AF to Yogi Bryan, which has been super challenging but a blessing overall.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
My brand Yogi Bryan prides itself on sharing the practice of yoga and meditation so people can develop a healthy body and peaceful mind. I live my mission by sharing my practice. Yoga has truly changed my life since I started taking it seriously in 2016. I met my wife at the yoga studio, lost around 30lbs, and have a whole change of mindset. I want to share this with the world. I do so by teaching yoga/meditation at studios, online, and I have a yoga/meditation app coming out soon. In addition, I create humorous yoga and meditation clothes on my website at www.yogibryan.com. I co-host The Yogi Show Podcast, which is streamed on all podcast platforms and YouTube. We are approaching 100k downloads. Currently, we are doing a 21 Day Meditation Challenge with musician DJ Taz Rashid.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the yoga community in Phoenix. There are so many awesome yoga studios here. I love that Phoenix is close to Las Vegas, Sedona, and Disneyland. I absolutely love being in nature. Hiking in the Phoenix area is amazing.
What I like least is the summers in Phoenix. It gets super hot, but luckily we have a lot of ways to cool down like swimming or heading up north to Pinetop or Flagstaff.
