Today we’d like to introduce you to Yasmine Flamm.
Yasmine, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In 2019, I bought my first real camera to have on hand for my social media management business. I wanted to give my clients the option of having product photos done, and my goodness I did not know what I was doing! Near the end of that year, I decided social media management for other companies just wasn’t for me, so I figured I’d learn to use my camera on manual mode. The last thing I wanted was for it to go to waste after what felt like a failed business. After advice from some great photographer friends, investing in classes, and taking my best friends out to practice my skills, I thought to myself, “Wow… I want to do this for the rest of my life!” I officially established my business in January of 2020 and I’ve been incredibly busy ever since working with some of the most talented photographers I’ve ever met while booking and shooting weddings for clients that I am so blessed to now call my friends!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely didn’t start off smooth. I launched my business about a month and a half before the Covid-19 quarantine started. I watched so much uncertainty surround the wedding community and it scared me. I thought to myself, “Did I really just start a business with the worst timing possible?” but thanks to connecting with some of the most amazing individuals in the business, I stayed busy and built my portfolio so I could start off 2021 strong! This is the most successful and busiest I’ve ever been in my business and while most days I’m on Cloud 9 doing what I love, I do have those moments where doubt swoops in and gets me down. I struggle with not currently being where I want to be but I know I’ll get there when I’m supposed to. Every professional started somewhere and I’m loving the process!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I thoroughly enjoy what I do and every part of the process. Talking to potential clients, scheduling them, connecting during the shoot, editing, and delivering a final product that they can’t wait to post: I LOVE IT! I photograph and serve families, seniors, and couples that want different stages of their life celebrated and captured for the years to come. If I had to choose a favorite, I would say weddings because I just can’t get enough of the big white dresses, florals, and the “just married” smiles on the bride and groom! There’s just something about freezing time in my lens and bottling the joy everyone feels that makes me swoon. I love to get down on the dance floor with my couples and be their ultimate hype girl during those magical sunset bridals!
What are your plans for the future?
I am excited to continue to grow my business, book more weddings with awesome couples, and give my clients I serve the option to buy high-quality prints, canvases, and albums through my website. I want to give everyone the best experience possible because they deserve nothing less. I’m also planning on doing more mini-sessions so I can serve more families in a day with adorable themed setups!
