Today we’d like to introduce you to Willie Alvarez.
Hi Willie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have always been a creative, I sketch and create anything that visually catches my eye. It had been a while since I tapped into the sketching and painting side of being a creative, during the pandemic I began exploring this side a lot more. Sage and Paint started with a goal for people to come together and have fun and unwind while painting. We launched officially April 2021. We were thrilled to be able to provide experiences both onsite and online for the comfort of the participants. I’ve done a range of private and open Sage and Paints that have provided fun and healing experiences overall. It’s a wonderful feeling to hear the participants share their excitement in completing a painting. You get to watch as their confidence gradually grows throughout the session.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s a fairly new company. Right now, the focus is on building our online market through team buildings and wellness options for groups seeking new ways to build foundations with their teams.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I love connecting creatives minds together. For the past few years, I have been helping start-ups and existing companies with brand development services. I’m most proud of my ability to build community and create platforms for others to express themselves. That’s at the core of everything that I do. Outside of Sage and Paint, I do a great job of keeping busy creatively through other platforms. During the pandemic, I also helped found Fathers Love Fathers Heal. I’m a father myself and during this past year, it became more apparent to me how much fathers need support and healing.
Sage & Paint has created a space for partnerships that makes every experience different for participants. For example, some of our session participants were able to not only indulge in painting they were also able to enjoy some delicious treats from Quinoa Esta Bakery. I believe what sets me and my brand apart from others is the incorporation of partnerships that allows everyone involved the opportunity to shine and have a seat at the table.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I would always sketch and draw and when I wasn’t doing that, I was out on the court playing basketball. I was very active. This rings true still today.
