Today we’d like to introduce you to William Hatcher.
William, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Honolulu, HI and grew up spending tons of time with my dad. We were always in the garage working with tools which helped me a lot as a kid. I grew up surfing, snowboarding, skateboarding, etc… and loved the rush of adrenaline in everything I did. I developed my creative side related to media when I was around the ages of 8-10, making small nerf war videos with friends and I really enjoyed being behind the camera. I worked hours a day practicing and devoting my time to perfect my work and I found satisfaction in everything I did with tons of room to improve. High school was definitely when my career began to blow up, gaining over 800 followers on social media in one week and working with others in my school. Before I knew it, I was told that tons of the underclassmen at my school were drawing inspiration from me and I could not believe it. My goal was always to inspire the younger generation to be relentless in whatever they do and have fun doing it. Once college started, I met so many people with the same mindset as me as well. We were all pushing each other to our creative limits and worked together on various projects. A couple of months in, I was recruited to a talent agency, WOLVES Talent. From a child to now, I can look back and be grateful for all the opportunities given to me as well how much support I have gotten through the years.
Has it been a smooth road?
Although my story might sound like sunshine and rainbows, one significant incident put me back a while. My passion for cameras exploded during my time in middle/high school while gaining traction on social media. During my sophomore year, being heavily involved in sports, I had a significant knee injury putting me out of basketball for good. The injury was pretty severe nearing the possibility of further life-changing surgeries that would change my life as I knew it. I was in a cast for three months barely having the motivation to go to school having to face my teammates in the condition I was in. After the cast came off, physical therapy was waiting for me which was around two months and was in no way easy. This incident strengthened my mentality and gave me the motivation to make myself better regardless of the outcome. Counting my blessings, I used that time to come back to my creative side and I began to pick up my camera again. This is one reason why I love photography/videography because of the fact that for me, it had a therapeutic aspect to it allowing me to find satisfaction and motivation in something other than sports.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a freelance photographer/videographer specializing in cinematography and travel photography. I am mostly known for always traveling and documenting everything in the form of pictures and videos. I am so thankful for the people who gave me a chance, a small kid from a rock in the middle of the Pacific, enabling me to have traction on social media as well as the ability to do what I love and make money from it. I am always striving to perfect my work, devoting time to my work every day, making myself better and that is shown through my work. Being accepted into Wolves Talent gave me room to improve through collaboration with other creators and I am forever grateful for the opportunity. I have experience working with brands and helping them grow their social media presence giving them more sales and enjoy doing so.
So, what should we be on the lookout for, what’s next in store for you?
My main goal is to one day become a director and create my own movies. It has always been a dream of mine to be able to put my thoughts on a screen on a professional scale. I am always looking for the next big opportunity to either spectate the production process and take things away from each event. I am always open to criticism because it has taught me that there is never going to be a perfect project and there is always room to improve your craft. I am looking forward to working with producers as well as more creators to make noise in the multimedia industry.
