Today we’d like to introduce you to Wayne Rainey.
Wayne, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m a native Arizonan artist who believes in the potential of collaboration. By creating affordable opportunities for creatives to live and work in our urban heart I feel we pave the way to a brighter future for the next generations.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Gentrification is a tricky animal to tame. Often development causes more harm than good by exploiting rather than supporting artists and arts districts. Phx is no exception and although we have enormous potential, the outcome will be based on deliberate and careful curation.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Monorchid, Raineystudios and HOLGAS have all changed Phoenix in unique ways that I’m very proud of.
Raineystudios has produced award winning international advertising photography for over 25 years and for many years produced the most seen images in the world.
HOLGAS was the very first affordable housing project specifically for artists in Phoenix and Monorchid was the first Co working model to open in downtown in 1999.
All three businesses champion a fair, just and equitable society for all.
What were you like growing up?
I grew up as a curious adventurer. I’ve traveled widely and enjoy learning about other cultures and the paths human take.
