Meet Lauren Rossi of Visuelle Design Group in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Rossi.

Lauren, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I founded the VISUELLE Design Group. It’s my life’s passion interior design. Growing up in Arizona, both parents were entrepreneurs, often told I’m exactly ½ of each of them. Dad, financial and Mom, creative! I began working after school at an early age, appreciated diligent work, responsibility and the privilege that comes with ambitious dreams and goals. My mom had a marketing/PR firm with a side hustle she loved, redoing interiors of friends. I loved to help and experienced the creative as well as the hard work. If you’ve never been charged with assembling an entire room, home, restaurant or commercial space look out! Your adrenaline kicks in, passion pushes you to bring it all together and when it’s completed, there’s no feeling like it. Pure excitement! Attending both Xavier College Preparatory and ASU, gave me the foundation for success to integrate all of the elements that pointed to developing my own company. For 5 years I worked for CFO’s – me? (Boy my accounting project skillset has served my business well.) Yet, I still longed for my passion for design, fabrics, and space planning.

GOT THE LUCKY BREAK! A “do it all” job for a luxury home builder and I became the “it girl!”. That path changed my life. All of the pent up passion of color and texture and materials were satisfied by my learning from scratch how to bring it all together. Then, phase two kicked in with an interior design firm who wanted to add me to their roster. Great energy, good learning curve, but again my personality and goals were to do it my way. I set out to raise the bar and met with one of our long time family friends, Mark Candelaria of Candelaria Design. HE is the MASTER Architect of the Southwest for a reason AMAZING. He encouraged me and to this day is my inspiration. He told me to get CAD under my belt to become more adept which makes me more marketable than many of the designers who do not use technology – I LOVE LOVE TECHNOLOGY.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Of COURSE NOT! It wouldn’t be FUN without bumps, would it? Starting your own firm is stressful legal, finance, forms, branding, personnel, management, contracts, shopping, returns, vendors, market, lugging materials high and low, juggling family (I have an INCREDIBLY smart husband who loves to help when he has time) and friends, personal time – LOL! I don’t believe many people understand that project managing an interior from the slab to finish takes thousands of man-hours and lots of sleepless nights moving furniture, colors, pieces, materials in your head like sheep! I stress over all of it – OCD (Obsessive Client Detail!).

We’d love to hear more about your business.
VISUELLE is a design firm for the environment in which we live and love. Home, office, restaurant, salon, and more. We specialize in residential home interiors but even have a race track to design! Our niche is listening to the client, capturing their personal design goals, then interpreting and integrating our design expertise. Our design range is diverse. It has to be. For the many unique, high powered and confidential clients who come to us to foster their very private and unique personal spaces. One of the proudest moments early on was the realization that after doing my first year look-back that my company exceeded my own financial goals as well as projects that I could never have imagined I would be invited to design. One restaurant I redesigned has been awarded “the most romantic restaurant in Arizona” which makes me very proud and humble. It does take a village to create interiors that make me, the client, my vendors, and my associates happy to represent.
