Meet Victor Johnson of Prickly Pear Tea in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victor Johnson.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Victor. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am an artist by trade and was trying to find a way to keep my gallery open through the summer months. So I thought tea would be great but just tea alone wasn’t very original. Then I thought of my youth and riding my horse through the fields of Prickly Pear cactus and thought, what if I blended the fruit into the tea?

It was delicious and at the time, I had no idea of the incredible health benefits. It took off and I had to make a choice, so I chose the tea business.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The growth was completely in sync with quality of people that are involved. The biggest misconception was that it was about sales, when in fact a good product is all about production.

Please tell us about Prickly Pear Tea.
We are most proud of the actual product and how it helps many people combat disease and illness. What sets us apart is that we don’t take shirt cuts… We harvest the fruit ourselves and do not dilute or add chemical ingredients… it’s completely natural and real. I have also used my art for the labels showing the soul of the company.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Visiting my family’s historic Viking home in Sweden… Seeing my last name carved in the crumbling stone.
