Today we’d like to introduce you to Valerie Myers.

Valerie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My wedding photography business started at the beginning of 2021 shortly after I left my corporate job. I’ve always been drawn to weddings because of what they resemble and the significance they hold for a couple. It’s vulnerable, emotional, and unifying in the most beautiful way.

Getting to be a part of preserving the moments that unfold is truly an honor. Being a wedding photographer is the perfect role for a hopeless romantic, I can’t think of a better way to spend my days.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
With being a creative entrepreneur, there’s always this push and pull between the art and the business. Most people assume being a photographer means you have a fancy camera and snap photos all day but there is so much more to it than that. You’re not only the photographer, your the editor, the accountant, the website designer, the marketing manager, and the social media guru.

Finding balance juggling all the different hats to wear while being a one-woman show has been the most challenging part but it’s also taught me the most. Keeping a positive mindset has been key for me in navigating all the different aspects of my business while also leaning into the photography committee to bounce ideas when I’m feeling stuck.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a wedding photographer based in Scottsdale, AZ specializing in creative portraits, storytelling, and film photography. I’m also a Super 8 Wedding Filmmaker!

After capturing my own wedding on a vintage Super 8 film camera, I knew this was something I needed to share with my clients. I love creating cinematic, wedding films that feel warm and nostalgic. There’s a special magic to Super 8 films that can’t be replicated through digital.

Any big plans?
My big focus this year is refining and enhancing the client experience which I’m really excited about! My clients are the coolest people and I want them to feel taken care of working with me from start to finish.
