Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Deans and David Mukai.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Tyler, David. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Tyler “Danger” Deans is a local citizen behind the culture cultivation project known as AZ Music Mag. The idea for the company stemmed from the need for a community platform focused on local musicians and their fans. He got the idea while attending GCC’s music program for audio engineering. He just saw the raw talent of local artists and new they needed help with the business side if they ever wanted to play nationally. He reached out to a few friends with the specialized talents, and made it happen. From interviews and podcasts to a local show calendar and an audio library they hope to enable these artists to succeed with their marketing. The goal is to help the up-and-comers make the transition to career artists.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The public has been very receptive to the idea of a unifying musical platform, so it has been smooth in that sense. The main obstacle has been the need to adapt to the limited resources of a small company. The owners have had to expand their individual skills to assist in different areas of projects. For example, they have taken it upon themselves to become graphic designers and camera operators. They will often pool their own resources to fund their expeditions into the music wilds.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the AZ Music Mag story. Tell us more about the business.
AZ Music Mag is a multimedia company specializing in cultivating local culture. We connect artists and fans to each other and provide an outlet for local artists to succeed in the industry. We offer video productions, advertising options, marketing tools, hours of free and paid artist content, and a detailed event calendar and more.
We are most proud of the versatility of services we offer, being a true jack-knife of all trades. We spotlight local musicians and artists taking the time to know each one enriching the experience and separating us from the competition.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
With such a receptive community, luck has little to no effect on our business. We have learned a lot in the way of organization from our past mistakes. If anything, we are lucky to live in an area where the culture is so vibrant.
