Meet Tunisia Isaac of The Lux Design Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tunisia Isaac.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve had a passion for designing and making things pretty since I was a child! I picked it up from mother who would decorate our home beautifully. Everyone who visited would always say it looks like it’s a model home and they couldn’t believe the house was lived in. Way back in the day I would Design my own MySpace pages from scratch, I was also in Fashion Design and Merchandising Club at my high school where I learned the principles and elements of design as well as how to sew garments, When I decided to take designing seriously, I initially started out with the intentions to be an Interior Designer. I began taking Interior Design courses and I was constantly researching Interior Design techniques and inspiration online. I came across a channel on YouTube that was about Interior Design as well as Event Decor and I fell in love! After seeing their work, I was inspired and I instantly knew that was the route I was going to take. I designed my Grandmothers 80th birthday party in December in 2019 and I started my business the following week! Although my main focus is on events, I still have a love for interiors and will do interiors here and there.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Although I wish I could say my journey has been a walk in the park, there definitely have been challenges along the way. I started my business New Year’s Day 2020 and I don’t know if that had some bad juju or what, but I’ve faced quite a few bumps in the road.
Due to Covid-19, my industry had come to a halt due to quarantine and social distancing. I was completely discouraged and didn’t know how I would be able to proceed when my whole business is dependent on people gathering. I was stagnant for a couple months before something sparked in me and told me I had to find another way. When graduation season rolled around, I knew that people would want to celebrate such a huge milestone so I decided to start offering services that didn’t require social gathering. I began making photo props, contactless balloon column drop-offs and pick-ups and I even designed setups for drive by celebrations..

I’m still trying to find creative ways that I can continue to operate during this tough time and I’m pretty optimistic that I’ll see more opportunities and more growth!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about The Lux Design Studio – what should we know?
As a Luxury Event Stylist, I cater to those who want their event to be memorable, elegant and extraordinary! My design aesthetic is glam, but I can also switch up to match my client’s vision. I tend to go a bit over the top to make an event POP! I specialize in designer balloon installations, opulent floral centerpieces, and lavish backdrops that party goers love photographing in front of! I’m also open to requests and I enjoy recreating my client’s inspiration photos. My favorite part is the big reveal when I get to see the reaction on my client’s face! My ultimate goal is to make my client cry happy tears. If there are watersworks, my mission is accomplished.

I’m most known for my balloon work and it’s my most requested service. You can make a huge statement with balloons and there are many different styles that I offer.

What I’m most proud of is being a young Black women making things happen for myself. I’m building my business from the ground up and the fact that I’ve gotten this far in such a short amount of time is such an achievement for me and I can’t wait to see where I am a year from now!

What sets me apart from other event designers is the fact that I’m a true luxury lover and details are very important to me. I’m a perfectionist so I go the extra mile to make every job I do LUX!

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The quality most important for my success would be resiliency. I know there will always be a challenge that I’ll face, but if I’m resilient, I can bounce back and learn from those challenges. Nothing can stop me if I can recover and come back stronger.
