Meet Treyvon McCray of Vauntrey in Avondale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Treyvon McCray.

Treyvon, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always been into fashion & design and putting things together. Two to three years ago, I had the vision of building my own brand and making it become something major, I wanted it to happen since I was young it was always my dream but for years I could never figure out a name for my brand. I had remembered a conversation I had with my dad one day, & how we wanted to name me, “Vauntrey” instead of “Treyvon”. My name backward, and with fashion & luxury I look up to the Louie Vuitton’s and Gucci, Dior Etc. But those are the brands have something involved with their name and that’s something I was looking towards as well because vauntrey is luxury streetwear at it’s finest. When it’s all said and done you will know about vauntrey, whether you rock with the brand or not. I started marketing myself on Instagram & Twitter, and I started to make a name for myself, posting daily & frequently to build an audience even more everyday.

Has it been a smooth road?
Challenges I would say is balancing sports with my brand because I play college basketball at Phoenix College, due to me being at practice for the majority of the time or at school I’m not 100% invested into my business but I’m really glad I got a head start so I can do little things to keep the name out there. I love fashion and I love my business but with connections I have and big plans I got coming up, I’m not so worried about the present right now. I’m big on patience and getting things done at the right time, it’ll all come together when it’s best. Obstacles would be, being consistent with the work and always apply some dope stuff that I see people wearing, I also will sometimes hear people say, that my brand looks like Vlone, or I’m trying to copy them or be something similar but in no case do I even see my brand like vlone, people usually say that because I have a V as my official logo and they do too. but it’s two different V’s that I think mine just represents me more. All love to asap Bari though because he’s a great designer and I look up to a lot of his work but copying his work wanting it to be like his, something I would never do.

Please tell us about your business.
“Vauntrey” we sell luxury clothing, hoodies, tee shirts, sweats, etc. We have almost every color way in the book because we want options to be wide enough. We for certain just specialize in being the best brand we can be and provide everyone with a luxury feel. When you wear vauntrey, we want you to feel like you’re in a class of your own. We’re known for our hoodies because those probably sell the most, and we’re proud of it because it’s constant orders day in and day out. What sets us apart from everyone especially in AZ, is that we’re not just a regular brand that prints tee shirts and sells them, we look at this of more of a dynasty and something luxury that you haven’t seen in a very long time.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I dislike about our city is the constant support system sometimes in Arizona some people don’t want you to make it and don’t wanna support or reach out because of jealousy and hate but for all reasons, I use that as motivation to go even harder. What I do like about Arizona is that it’s expanding in all areas now, sports, music, fashion. It’s not how it was before, you got people out here making thousands on YouTube, and that’s always positive when you’re getting your own money.
